Flying Fizz tops April (Early) Sale at $175,000

Flying Fizz (Street Boss) – tonight’s Inglis Digital April (Early) sale topper – will be retired by purchaser Corumbene and sent straight to stud after selling for $175,000.

The 5YO was offered by trainer Matthew Williams on behalf of the mare’s owners, who were delighted with the result.

“If we’d got half that we’d have thought it was a great result,’’ Williams said.

“We’ve been using Inglis Digital for years, we sold Literary Magnate for over $500,000 a couple of years ago, we’ve sold other mares too and we’ve found the platform terrific. Even the horses that don’t have that sort of higher value you can get really good results with.’’

Corumbene’s Tommy Altomonte purchased the mare – his first online purchase – and couldn’t have been happier with the process.

“She’s our first ever purchase online but after today’s experience, I can see why Inglis Digital is getting bigger and bigger and everyone raves about it,’’ Altomonte said.

“I did the bidding myself and it was fantastic, the layout of the site was so clear and made it so easy to bid and buy.

“Our new stud manager Tyler Frazer, who only started a few weeks ago, sent me the link to Flying Fizz three or four days ago and we did some research and everything with her scored really well on our end and how we like to breed, that whole sire line and she’s from a good family so we thought ‘let’s have a crack’ and we did.''

Tonight’s second-top lot honours were shared between the 3YO colt Master of the Air (Dundeel) and the broodmare Brulee – in foal to The Autumn Sun – both realising $100,000.

Sunshine Coast-based Cameron Bennett of Flying Start Syndications bought Master of the Air, already a two-time winner from seven starts, from Coolmore and partners.

“I haven’t decided if he’ll race in Queensland or Victoria yet but I’m very happy, I’ve been following the horse and I really like him,’’ Bennett said.

“I’ll geld him and give him a good break and then get him into our systems.

“I love Inglis Digital, it’s a really good platform for syndicators to pick up these types of horses at good value.’’

Titanic Park’s Mathew Joy purchased the Segenhoe-offered Brulee.

“I’ll foal down The Autumn Sun, Yarran foal my mares down and do a great job and I'll likely offer the foal at Great Southern next year, I’ve had some great success buying mares on Inglis Digital and selling the foals at Great Southern so that’s the plan at this stage,’’ Joy said.

“I’m selling four weanlings at Great Southern in a few weeks in the Rushton Park draft so hopefully the good luck continues.

“[Inglis Bloodstock Sales Manager] Will Stott has been a great help with these mares, he’s such a great guy and I love dealing with him.’’

Another significant result in tonight’s sale was the broodmare Twist Tops – dam of this season’s Stakes-winning 2YO Gin Twist (Home Affairs) – which sold to Doug Walker for $90,000.

“We were looking at going to the broodmare sales in the coming weeks and buy some mares but then I saw her come up on Inglis Digital and thought I’d have a crack early,’’ Walker said.

“I’ve been watching Gin Twist, I was actually hoping she got into the [Golden] Slipper but either way I think she has an exciting future.

“I’ll go back to Home Affairs with her this season.

“I’ve paid a lot of money on Inglis Digital over the years, it’s a really good platform, it’s amazing what you can find if you have a good look through.’’

In total the April (Early) Sale grossed $3,629,300.
