Flying Spur Stakes-Winner in Dubai

Champion trainer Mike de Kock is no stranger to success with Aussie bred horses and produced Flying Spur gelding Mushreq to win the Listed Singspiel Stakes at Meydan in Dubai overnight.

Second in the Group I Greyville Golden Horseshoe at two in South Africa, the Mike de Kock trained Mushreq was a smart stakes-winner at the Dubai Racing Carnival last year and seems to be back in top form again for 2014.

"He loves the turf, is a nice honest horse and is a pleasure to train,” said Mike de Kock.

Racing in the famous blue and white colours of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Mushreq was bred in Australia by Shadwell and foaled and raised at Yarraman Park.

Consigned to the 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale by Yarraman, he was bought back at $350,000 for Sheikh Hamdan and sent to South Africa.

Mushreq is a half-brother to Macau stakes-winner Jazza Bell being from stakes-placed Jeune (GB) mare Alharir, a half-sister to the dam of Group I winner Rewaaya from the family of Snippets and Forensics.
