Foxy Frida too strong in Inglis Bracelet

The lure of the $250,000 on offer in today’s Inglis Bracelet at Flemington was too strong for trainer Andrew Noblet to ignore and it proved a winning decision when consistent mare Foxy Frida was successful.

Foxy Frida (Foxwedge) is a 4YO from the Mill Park Stud draft – who bred her along with Kellie McCarthy - at the Premier Yearling Sale and her career record continues to defy the norm.

Today’s race on Oaks Day was her 11th career start, in which she has now finished in the quinella on nine occasions.

Trained by Andrew Noblet, Foxy Frida today defeated Ruby Tuesday and Intellective in what is the newest event in the Inglis Race Series.

“She had a very short break after running a close second at Flemington in July and from that moment on, the Inglis Bracelet was on the radar for her, I mean bloody oath the prizemoney is fabulous,’’ a delighted Noblet said.

“She’s such a quality, consistent mare. She’ll win a Stakes race, I’ve got absolutely no doubt about that, she just oozes class.

“I love the Inglis Race Series, the money is too good to ignore so when we saw this race on the calendar a few months back I knew it was the one to target with her and it’s all come together nicely.’’

Foxy Frida (pictured) has now won almost $400,000 from four career wins and five second placings.

The Inglis Race Series now heads to Randwick next month for the running of the $400,000 Inglis Nursery at Randwick on December 11, a race won previously by the likes of Wild Ruler, She Will Reign, Extreme Choice and Mossfun etc.

At Flemington on Tuesday, Inglis graduates kept their strong week of results going with Quantico (Listed MSS Security Stakes) and Rich Hips (G3 HKJC Stakes) both winning Stakes races for their connections.

And tough filly Douceur (No Nay Never) produced the race of her life when narrowly going down in the G1 VRC Oaks today.

The 3YO was left in front a long way from home and bravely fought right to the end, only being headed in the last stride by race favourite Willowy for Godolphin.

Douceur is a fabulous Inglis story – she’s a $52,000 Great Southern weanling buy for Maluka Farm when offered by Robert and Barbara McClure’s Morning Rise Stud, an $80,000 Premier Yearling Sale Maluka graduate and a $125,000 Inglis Ready2Race graduate when offered by Chad Ormsby’s Riverrock Farm and purchased by Andrew Williams on behalf of the Tait family.

She is now G1 placed at just her ninth career start.

For Rich Hips (Written Tycoon), it was the second consecutive year she has won the same race on Melbourne Cup Day, taking her career earnings past the $550,000 mark.

Her trainers Natalie Young and Trent Busuttin teamed up with First Light Racing and Paul Willetts to purchase Rich Hips for $130,000 at the Premier Yearling Sale, where she was offered by her breeder Woodside Park Stud.

Quantico’s first Stakes win on Tuesday continued his rapid rise through the ranks.

It was a third consecutive victory for the 5YO son of I Am Invincible and took his overall record to six wins and one second placing from just 10 starts.

Quantico is a $1,050,000 Easter Yearling Sale buy for his trainer John O’Shea, China Horse Club and Craig Rounsefell’s Boomer Bloodstock and among his part owners are his breeders Jason Abrahams, Harry Mitchell and Yarraman Park Stud.

And Inglis Millennium winner Profiteer (Capitalist) was a comfortable winner down the famous Flemington straight in the Schweppervescence Plate.

He will now be sent for a spell and be targeted at G1 races such as the Lightning Stakes and Oakleigh Plate in the autumn.
