The G1 mare Bellatrix Star headlines an Inglis Digital catalogue – which is now available online - that features some of the best breeding stock offered to the Australasian market this year.
A total of 275 lots have been finalised for the September (Early) Sale and there are many significant offerings for breeders especially, with the Southern Hemisphere breeding season just days old.
The four-time Stakes winner Bellatrix Star (Star Witness) is the standout – she is a G2 winner at two before training on at three to win three consecutive black type races during the 2024 Melbourne Spring Carnival, before finishing 2nd to Switzerland in the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes.
In that spring preparation alone Bellatrix Star defeated the likes of Lady of Camelot, Geegees Mistruth, Benagil, Another Prophet, Mornington Glory, Growing Empire, I Am Unstoppable, Coleman, Traffic Warden, Oscar’s Fortune, Maharba, Recommendation etc.
Bellatrix Star is one of just 12 fillies to have placed in the G1 Coolmore since 2015 and only four have been offered for public auction off the track – Sunlight, Invincible Star, C’est Magique and Swats That.
“James Price inspected her at Cranbourne earlier this week and said she’s a beauty,” Inglis Bloodstock Sales Manager and New Zealand representative Brett Gilding said in reference to Bellatrix Star.
“I have pestered John Galvin repeatedly about selling her and while it’s disappointing that he and his partners probably never got to see the very best of her – she only had 13 starts – we are determined to get them the very best result that we can through the sale.
“She makes a hell of a lot of appeal and it’s fairly obvious that she is going to breed million-dollar yearlings for someone if she breeds them looking like her!”

Aeolian (Fastnet Rock) and Chatterley (Snitzel) are two racing and breeding prospects sure to attract the attention of a wide range of prospective buyers in the sale.
The 4YO mare Aeolian is a dual winner in the Northern Hemisphere - she is a Fastnet Rock mare, out of a Dubawi mare, out of a Galileo mare, three of the most influential stallions of the modern era in three generations who between them are the broodmare sire of 100 G1 winners.
Chatterley is a Snitzel three-quarter sister to the G1 performed 2YO Mamaragan and was Stakes placed at two and three.
She is currently in the Chris Waller stable and has finished in the top three at 50% of her career starts.
Fly Lightly (More Than Ready) and Smokin’ Princess (Fastnet Rock) would be valuable additions to any broodmare band and are both on offer in the September (Early) Sale.
Fly Lightly is a half sister to G1 winner Fenway and is offered in foal to Champion First Season Sire Home Affairs, whose yearlings in 2026 sold up to $1.3m.
