World renowned breeders Gooree Park Stud and Think Big Stud have confirmed major reductions of their breeding and racing stock at the 2016 Inglis Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale during the first week of May.
Over 100 broodmares, weanlings, yearlings and racing stock from Eduardo Cojuangco’s Gooree Park Stud will be offered at the Inglis Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale on 1, 2, 3 & 4 May, as well as the Classic Yearling Sale (Book Two) and Autumn Thoroughbred Sale on Friday 6 May.
“We are proud of our thoroughbred families which we have developed over several decades with plenty of success. Breeding elite athletes has always been at the heart of Mr Cojuangco’s interest, and it is upon his request that we are sharing the results of his passion,” said Monica Cummings, Racing Manager for Gooree Park Stud
Over 50 broodmares from Gooree will be offered, including close relations to Group 1 winning first season sire Your Song and a full sister to Flight Stakes winner Speak Fondly. There are multiple daughters of Northern Meteor, High Chaparral and other proven sires to be sold, plus mares in-foal to Smart Missile, Mossman, Artie Schiller, Your Song, Strategic Maneuver and The Factor.
“Gooree are the world class breeders of Northern Meteor, Smart Missile, Desert War, Your Song, Speak Fondly and may others, and we are honoured to offer a major reduction of their stock here in Sydney on behalf of Mr Cojuangco,” added Inglis’ Managing Director Mark Webster.
Dato Tan Chin Nam’s Think Big Stud has also confirmed a major reduction of over 50 horses for Inglis’ week of breeding and racing stock sales in May including their champion Faint Perfume.
The distinctive checkerboard colours, developed in honour of Dato Tan Chin Nam’s passion for chess, are synonymous with success at the highest level having been carried to victory often on multiple occasions in the Melbourne Cup, Cox Plate, Caulfield Cup, VRC and ATC Oaks, Doncaster Handicap, Hong Kong Bowl and many other time-honoured classics. Dato is set to celebrate his 90th birthday on the 18th of March and the reduction of stock will allow him to focus on racing, rather than breeding.
“I may be OBE [over bloody eighty], but I’m looking forward to a more youthful approach to racing,” quipped Dato Tan Chin Nam.
Faint Perfume will be offered in-foal to Redoute’s Choice, while other entries include Shamalia’s half-sister Hilylia, top producer Dance On The Moon and Group 1 Australian Oaks placegetter Think Money.
Many of the mares were served last season by stallions which were raced by Dato Tan Chin Nam, namely So You Think, Eurozone, Roman Emperor, Prince Arthur and Pendragon.
Think Big’s best weanlings by Eurozone will be offered in the Platinum Session of the Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale.
As part of their reductions both Think Big Stud and Gooree Park Stud will have sizeable drafts in the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale – Book Two on Friday 6 May 2016, plus some racing colts and geldings in the Autumn Thoroughbred Sale that will follow the yearlings in the afternoon.
