Happy Zeroes in on HK G1

Happy Zero franked his rating as one of Hong Kong’s best gallopers when staving off a late challenge to land the HK G1 $HK4.5million Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup (1400m) at Sha Tin today.

The John Moore trained HAPPY ZERO ($425,000 2006 Easter, 5g Danzero-Have Love) is now the winner of eight races in 11 starts for earnings topping $HK12million ($A1.756m).

He joins Inspiration, Musir and Zavite as international Group 1 winners for Easter in the past 18 months and was one of five winners for Inglis graduates on today's prestigious Sha Tin card.

It was a most deserved win at Hong Kong’s highest level, as he only narrowly missed out in last year’s G1 HK International Mile and had run third to fellow Inglis international star Sacred Kingdom in the G1 Chairman’s Sprint Prize at his most recent start.

His dam, the Canny Lad mare Have Love, was herself an Inglis Australian Easter Broodmare Sale graduate in 2004, being sold for just $140,000 and carrying Happy Zero at the time.

Happy Zero, who was sold through the Widden Stud draft, completes a wonderful eight days for graduates of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

He is one of five Group 1 winners across three countries in that time, following Wanted (Newmarket), Rock Classic (Australian Guineas), Zipping (Australian Cup) and Zavite (Auckland Cup).

In all, Easter graduates have now won 52 stakes races in Australia this season, putting them on track to match the 86 acquired in 2008-09.

The 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale will be held in Sydney from April 6-8.

Happy Zero's sire Danzero is represented by nine youngsters in this year's catalogue.
