He’s Fast Enough

Breednet - Tara Madgwick - Wednesday, 13 October 2010

Fastnet Rock four year-old Faster Son graduated to open company with a strong win at Caulfield on Wednesday taking his impressive record to six wins from seven starts.

Trained on the Gold Coast by Trevor Bailey, Faster Son won at Sandown last month in a Ratings 89 event when making his Melbourne debut and handled the step up in grade to the $100,000 Mittys Cup to score a stylish victory.

Tardy out of the gates, he recovered for Craig Willams to work forward before kicking clear to win the 1200 metre sprint by more than two lengths.

A $45,000 purchase for Ontrack Thoroughbreds from the Kitchwin Hills draft at the 2008 Inglis Scone Yearling Sale, Faster Son has put together a great record for his large group of owners winning $128,263 in prizemoney.

“He’s done a few things wrong today and still gotten away with it... makes you wonder how good he can be when he does everything right,” quipped Trevor Bailey.

Faster Son is one of three winners from Group Three winning Palace Music (USA) mare Sonata, who finished second in the Group One QTC Oaks.

“He’s got the bloodlines to think he can get a bit further,” said Bailey.

“He’s done everything we’ve asked of him so far and now we’ll sit down and work out where to go next.”

Faster Son is one of 25 winners for Coolmore’s leading young sire Fastnet Rock (pictured) in the past 30 days.
