Hot Result for Spin Connections in Inglis Bonus

Hot Spin made the most of a late inclusion to land an upset win and a rich pay day in today’s Wellington Race Club Inglis Bonus (1000m) at Caulfield.

Not only did HOT SPIN ($80,000 2010 Premier, 2g Spinning World-Raging Inferno) pick up the $42,700 first prize, but he also secured a $30,000 Super Vobis Bonus and the Inglis Race Series $100,000 Bonus for his first win.

Happy connections of the Yallambee Stud graduate on course to witness the win included Contract Racing's David Moodie and Melbourne Racing Club Committee Treasurer Brodie Arnhold.

The win was part of a big day for Inglis graduates at Caulfield, with promising stayer SNITZA (P$27,500 2009 Premier, 3c Snitzel-Alba Zitta) bolting in over 2000m early in the day before SECRET FLYER ($29,000 2005 Autumn, 7g Secret Savings-Lanadee) overpowered his rivals in the Listed Sir John Monash Stakes.

It was Secret Flyer's 11th win and took his earnings beyond the $500,000 mark.

Hot Spin led home a trifecta for Inglis bonus eligible horses, with first starters Unique Quality and Infinite Energy filling the minor placings.

It is the first Inglis Race Series win for the Golden Slipper winning trainer partnership of Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra, who had to wait until this morning to gain a start with Hot Spin, who was made first emergency in the capacity field chasing the big bonus.

“The plan was to go to Wodonga and clean him up for today but we got beaten,” Ellerton said.

“However we put the shades on. He is such a laid back, casual horse who needed focus. We were back to 1000m, second up which was the plan.”

Hot Spin had shown potential with two city placings behind the multiple stakes winner Golden Archer ($80,000 2010 Easter) earlier in the season.

Connections of 2011 Inglis yearlings have until Friday July 29 to submit their entries for the $2.6million race series, which offers bonus opportunities and races restricted to sales graduates only right throughout the youngsters' two and three-year-old seasons.

The series continues with a $100,000 Inglis Bonus on the last Sydney metropolitan 2YO race over 1300m at Rosehill on Saturday 30 July.
