Among a set of listings that is sure to attract attention from a significant global audience, blueblood broodmare Set Goals – in foal to hot young stallion Maurice - is one of countless standout lots on offer.
The 7YO Snitzel mare is from one of the most successful families in the Australian Stud Book, out of a three-quarter sister to blue hen The Broken Shore, dam of three-time G1 winner Shoals and the Stakes-winning and G1 placed Groundswell.
Set Goals is also a full sister to eight-time winner and Listed placed Café Royal, as well as a granddaughter of Monsoon Wedding, a full sister to Redoute’s Choice.
Another member of this family represented in the sale is 3YO filly Crystalane (Snitzel x Crystal Flute), a lightly-raced filly who showed distinct promise when winning on debut in August for Mark Newnham.
Group performer Great Barrier Reef (pictured) – offered by Coolmore in conjunction with Chris Waller Racing – is another entry of significance.
The lightly raced, regally bred 3YO colt (I Am Invincible x Cosmic Endeavour) has twice finished fourth at G3 level, behind Best of Bordeaux and Sejardan, as well as a close fifth in the G2 Danehill behind Everest winner Giga Kick and would suit an array of stables in Australia or across Asia.
Another quality offering in the December Online Sale is Family Crest, the dam of recent spring carnival star Literary Magnate.
Literary Magnate (Written Tycoon) raced eight times during her winter/spring campaign for seven top three finishes including victory in the G3 Northwood Plume, second placing in the G3 HKJC Stakes at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day and third place in the G3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes at Caulfield a fortnight ago.
Family Crest is offered in foal to exciting young stallion Rubick.
There are also several reduction and/or dispersal drafts in the December Online Sale.
Hesket Bloodstock has an unreserved draft of 18 racehorses (colts and geldings) and race fillies, the Alan Cardy Estate Dispersal of 16 unreserved racehorses includes the likes of Stakes winner Irish Songs and many lightly raced up-and-coming gallopers from the Kurt Goldman stable, while G3 Bendigo Cup placegetter Verimli headlines five unreserved offerings from Hudson Conway.
And Turangga Farm will offer seven paddock-reared yearlings, which John and Stuart Ramsay are offering ahead of the 2023 yearling sales due to a shortage of staff and added costs associated with presenting at the yearling sales.
“Buyers and clients will have the opportunity to purchase sound, well-grown young horses that are ready to be broken in and I’m confident they are all going to make beautiful racehorses,’’ John Ramsay said.
“If anybody wants to inspect them on the farm in the next five days ahead of the sale, just give me a call.’’
Other sale highlights include:
