HUSSTA SHINES FOR KITCHWIN HILLS

8th Feb 2008

The gloomy weather that has plagued Sydney in the past week failed to dampen Paul Messara’s enthusiasm when his promising three-year-old filly Hussta La Vista defied the testing conditions at Rosehill on Saturday to score a game win.

Messara has just taken up the lease of 10 stables at Randwick and he intends to divide his stable between his Scone complex and keep city class horses at Randwick. Based on her victory today, Hussta La Vista will be spending most of her time at Randwick after she produced a stylish front-running performance on a heavy track to land the $65,000, Caravan Camping Supershow Handicap over 1300m by one and three-quarter lengths.

This is the third win for Hussta La Vista ($155,000 Premier Yearling sale, 3 f Hussonet – Ruski Rose) from just four starts, and her second in succession after coming with a booming run in the straight to score at Rosehill over 1200m on January 19th. Bred by Wall Street Thoroughbreds and offered for sale by Mick Malone from his boutique Kitchwin Hills operation in the Hunter Valley, Hussta La Vista races for the same partnership who own Miss Finland including John Leaver and broadcaster Alan Jones.

Hussta La Vista has now earned $110,250 and she looks destined for better things. Her sire Hussonet has 23 lots catalogued for the Premier Sale in Melbourne that commences on March 2.

The last race at a soggy Rosehill went to O’Crikey ($60,000 2005 Classic Yearling sale, 4 g O’Reilly – Ungaro), who continued the great run of form for Warwick Farm-based trainer Gary Portelli. O’Crikey has now won three races and earned $181,765.
