Inglis 3YO’s Bid for Spring Riches

Onemorenomore, Viking Legend, Hus Der Lieften and the lone filly in the field Lovemelikearock are strong chances to build on the outstanding start made to the new season by Inglis three-year-olds when they run in this Saturday’s G1 Spring Champion Stakes.

It is fitting that leading bloodstock auctioneers Inglis will sponsor this year’s Group 1 AJC Spring Champion Stakes, with Easter graduates Sousa and Teranaba having won the latest two renewals of the event.

Lovemelikearock defeated a smart field of males at her most recent start in the G3 Newcastle Spring Stakes with runner up Viking Legend franking the form when he scored a comprehensive win in the Listed Dulcify Quality last Saturday.

The pair will clash with last season’s G1 Champagne Stakes winner Onemorenomore, who rocketed to the top of betting charts for the Inglis Spring Champion when running an impressive third against older horses in the G1 George Main Stakes last Saturday.

Little Surfer Girl, Sister Madly and Run For Naara are amongst the leading fancies sold by Inglis engaged in Saturdays G1 Arrowfield Stud Flight Stakes and will be looking to make it back to back victories in the race for Inglis graduates following Samantha Miss’ victory last year.

Furthermore Easter Graduates Rothesay and Honest Truth are expected to fight out the finish in the Inglis Insurance sponsored G2 Roman Consul Stakes.

Three-year-olds sold at public auction have won 18 stakes races this season, of those 12 have been won by Inglis graduates.

Those races have been won by eight individual graduates – four each from Melbourne Premier and Easter.

Carrara, Black Caviar, Starspangledbanner, Irish Lights and Stryker are other Inglis graduates to salute at stakes level so far this season.

"Inglis graduates have a proud record among the classic generation, as evidenced by the fact they have taken out at least one award at the Australian Horse of the Year ceremony in each of the past seven seasons," Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster pointed out.

These include last season’s respective Colt & Gelding and Filly Champions Whobegotyou and Samantha Miss, 2007-08 Australian Horse of the Year Weekend Hussler, Miss Finland, Racing To Win, Fastnet Rock, Alinghi and Helenus.

"This latest crop looks more than capable of continuing that tradition and it’s great to see clients doing so well so soon into the new season," Webster added.

"Just 12 of the three-year-old stakes winners this season have been sold at auction and it says much for the quality of our yearling sales that eight of them have graduated from the Newmarket and Oaklands sales rings."
