Inglis $50,000 Trainers Bonus Still up for Grabs

With only five races left in the inaugural $2.5million Inglis Race Series, the battle for the lucrative $50,000 Trainer’s Bonus remains wide open.

In fact, any trainer with an eligible Inglis graduate still has the opportunity to put themselves in the frame for the bonus.

Aquanita’s Robert Smerdon holds the advantage to this point, with his Tale Of The Cat filly Tale Of Love providing him with two wins earlier in the year.

Tony Vasil joined a group of 10 trainers to have prepared one bonus winner when Carrara picked up the $100,000 Bonus at Flemington on Saturday.

Other trainers to have prepared Inglis Race Series winners are Michael Moroney (Sophrosyne), Gerald Ryan (Hus Der Lieften), Tim Martin (The Mikado), Brett Thompson (Hewentwhoosh), Matthew Williams (Western Raider), Danny Williams (Take This Waltz), Gary Portelli (Delago Bolt), Liam Birchley (Fear No Other) and Leon Corstens (Starspangledbanner).

The five races left in the series for 2008 yearling sale graduates are:-

$100,000 Bonus - 3YO (80) Hcp, 1600m - Randwick NSW, 17 October 2009

$100,000 - 3YO INGLIS TROPHY (0-82), 1400m - Sale VIC, 25 October 2009

$100,000 Bonus - 3YO Open Hcp, 1400m - Caulfield VIC, 5 December 2009

$100,000 Bonus - 3YO (80) Hcp, 1400m - Randwick NSW, 19 December 2009

$500,000* - 3YO INGLIS GUINEAS, 1600m - Scone NSW, 14 May 2010

The next series for 2009 yearling sale graduates, valued at $2.6million, kicks off with the $250,000 2YO Inglis Juvenile at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day next month.

Note: All monies paid into the 2008 graduate series remaining after all bonus races are run will be disbursed as prizemoney in the Inglis Guineas underwritten by Inglis for a maximum of $1.25M.
