Inglis Autumn Yearling Catalogue Now On Line

6th Apr 2008

The William Inglis Group 1 juggernaut rolled on in Western Australia yesterday, with GRAND JOURNEY (2006 Autumn Yearling Sale $6500, Good Journey-Grand Prospect) taking out the W.A.T.C. Derby (2400m).

The David Brideoake trained filly had won the G3 WA Oaks just eight days earlier and took her earnings to more than $600,000 in beating her male rivals.

It continues the dominance of William Inglis graduates in Group 1 races in 2008.

The Derby is the ninth Group 1 race this calendar year to fall the way of an Inglis graduate, which followed Forensics’ Queen of the Turf Stakes success in Sydney a day earlier.

The rise to prominence of Grand Journey is a timely reminder of the value to be found in the upcoming William Inglis & Son Autumn Yearling Sale, which runs from May 11-12 at Oaklands in Melbourne.

The Autumn catalogue is now on-line.

It features 360 yearlings by noted sires including Al Maher, Beautiful Crown, Bel Esprit, Bianconi, Catbird, Canny Lad, Choisir, Danasinga, Dash For Cash, Delago Brom, Desert King, Dubai Destination, Elvstroem, Hussonet, Iglesia, Kempinsky, Lucky Owners, Niello, Not A Single Doubt, Reset, Royal Academy, Secret Savings, Shamardal, Strategic, Testa Rossa and many others.

Grand Journey’s sire Good Journey, also the sire of this season’s Group 2 winner Sound Journey, is represented by six yearlings in the catalogue.

This is the sale that also produced Australian Cup winner and weight-for-age star POMPEII RULER, whose career earnings of $1.58million dwarf his 2004 reserve price of just $10,000.

Grand Journey’s dam Grand Prospect, a daughter of reigning Australian Champion Sire Flying Spur, was sold at last year’s William Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale in foal to Coolmore stallion Choisir for $40,000.
