Inglis Bonuses won at Warrnambool & Wagga

The connections of Murcielaga and Elkaydee were the proud recipients of $50,000 Inglis Race Series Bonuses at Warrnambool & Wagga Wagga today, with the gallopers taking out the two-year-old events at their respective venues.

MURCIELAGA ($220,000 2011 Easter, 2c Testa Rossa-Zacushla) made light work of his debut in the Simon’s Waterfront Inglis Bonus 1200 at Warrnambool when scooting away to an impressive three length victory over Kim Command and Cool God.

The Michael Moroney trained juvenile was very strong to the line in the two-year-old event, giving jockey Nicholas Hall his fifth winner for the Warrnambool Carnival and his delighted connections an additional $50,000 bonus care of Inglis on top of the $13,650 first prizemoney.

The colt, by Testa Rossa from stakes placed Zabeel mare Zacushla, was bred and sold by Holbrook Thoroughbreds from the 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale to Paul Moroney Bloodstock for $220,000 and looks set for a promising career for his big group of owners which include Andrew Ramsden, part-owner of fellow Easter graduate Niwot, the winner of last weekend’s Group 1 Sydney Cup; Krauser Racing, Dr J T Kennedy, S W Kay, K Watson, Ms M A Keating, P J & Mrs J Bellas, Gurners Bloodstock Co, Wright Racing & R & C Legh Racing P/L.

25 minutes later and 700kms away at Wagga ELKAYDEE ($20,000 2011 Classic, 2f Strategic-Queen Tzuke) saluted to the delight of her trainer Louise Dean and ecstatic owners in the Inglis Bonus 2YO Handicap at the Murrumbidgee Turf Club to continue the race’s great tradition of rewarding connections willing to chase the lucrative Inglis Bonus.

Two years ago Wyong trainer Stephen Farley travelled Sincero down to collect the $50,000 Inglis Race Series Bonus attached to the 1200m two-year-old event on Wagga Town Plate Day, while last year’s bonus was won by Randwick trainer John O’Shea’s galloper Hendricus.

Dean had tried Elkaydee in the $250,000 Inglis Classic at Rosehill earlier this year, however the daughter of Strategic found Cavalry Rose and co a bit too slick. But the experience did the Kembla Grange trained filly the world of good, as she put her best foot forward today to outgun Serb Candy and Diamond Player in a fighting finish.

Bred and sold by Bowness Stud of Young NSW the grey filly earned over three times her purchase price when adding the $50,000 Inglis Bonus on top of the $7,800 first prizemoney and $5,000 BOBS Bonus on offer to the winner. A fantastic result for her owners; E Dean, Mrs N Hanigan, G L Rixon, K Rabiloi, Mrs E M Rabiloi & Ms S C Wilkinson.

To cap off a big week in the Inglis Race Series a $50,000 Bonus is on offer at Hawkesbury’s stand-alone Saturday racemeeting this weekend.

A $50,000 Bonus will be paid by Inglis to connections should the winner of Race 2 – Hawkesbury Race Club Motel Inglis Bonus (2YO, 1200m) be nominated to the Inglis Race Series.

The lucrative Inglis Race Series then moves to Scone for the two day carnival on Friday May 18 and Saturday May 19, with the running of the $100,000 2YO Inglis Challenge and $500,000 3YO Inglis Guineas. Nominations for both races at Scone close at 11am Monday May 14.
