Inglis Breeze Up Appeals Locally and Abroad

10th Oct 2006

Saturday’s success in the Listed Angst Quality (1400m) of the David Payne trained MORE THAN LUCKY (2005 Ready To Run, $72,500) further enhanced the reputation of the Inglis Breeze Up Sale. Purchased last year from the Oaklands sale ring by Mr Kai Fai Leung of Champion Hong Kong miler LUCKY OWNERS fame, MORE THAN LUCKY represents a stellar example of the quality that is available from the William Inglis & Son Breeze Up sale. Furthermore she is a graduate from the inaugural three-year-old offerings in 2005, a category that will again feature a quality line up this year.

Wins also over the weekend by Inglis Breeze Up graduates SALUT BEAUTE and GOLD DIGGER in Hong Kong as well as MAKING THE ROAD in Adelaide quite clearly indicates that the sale has appeal to both the local and Asian market.

In recent years graduates have won or placed in over 150 stakes races including 30 Group Ones with individual sales producing 75% winners and 10% stakes performers to runners. More than 200 graduates have won overseas, the majority of those throughout Asia.

A quick glance through the catalogue notes many relations to successful Hong Kong raced gallopers including Lot 74, a Commands colt, a half brother to the winning Good To Great. Lot 118, a chestnut colt by Danasinga from the stakes place Nassipour (USA) mare, Jewel of Ireland is closely related to one of the best horses to have raced in Hong Kong in the form of Gr. 2 winner Indigenous, a winner of over HK$45 million.

By the same sire as Saturday’s impressive Listed winner MORE THAN LUCKY comes Lot 133 Ready For Spring (More Than Ready (USA) x Spring Hit (NZ)), a half-brother to 6 time Hong Kong winner Winning Dragon.

With only three black type 2YO races conducted so far this season in Australia, Choisir is the only stallion to provide a top-three finisher in all of the events. Lot 94 sees a Choisir colt out of the Halling mare Duchess Drive (IRE), herself a half-sister to talented Hong Kong galloper Flying Tamari to be offered by Independent Stallions.

Synergy Racing will offer Lot 40 an Encosta de Lago filly, who will have appeal to both the local and Hong Kong market as she is a close relation to HELENE PILLAGING, who when racing in Australia as PILLAGING scored a resounding victory in the Gr. 1 VRC Sires’ Stakes before his departure to Hong Kong.

Anabaa (USA) and Redoute’s Choice who sired Group One winners in Sydney on Saturday and Fusaichi Pegasus who sired a stakes winner in Melbourne are the sires of current Hong Kong stars Supreme Gains, Supreme Class and Floral Pegasus respectively. All three sires will be represented by one son each in this year’s sale. Wadham Park will offer Lot 52 a Fusaichi Pegasus colt and Lot 123 a Redoute’s Choice gelding while Coral Park will offer Lot 138 a gelding by Anabaa from the family of Bel Esprit.

The 2006 2 & 3 YO Breeze Up sale will be commence on Thursday 26 th October with the actual Breeze Up sessions to be conducted at Oaklands Junction with the sale being conducted on the following Sunday, 29 th October.
