Inglis Classic Colt On Track For Blue Diamond

Mick Price’s decision to debut two-year-old Extreme Choice (Not A Single Doubt x Extremely) in the $500,000 RL Inglis Nursery paid off with the Inglis Classic graduate powering to the line in a race record-breaking win in 56.85 for a large group of owners.

After being required to trial on Tuesday to be cleared to race in New South Wales, Mick Price was filled with confidence that the youngster could replicate his booming trial win in today’s 1000m contest, which had its prizemoney doubled for the first time in 2015.

“He’s a natural. A pure sprinting colt,” said Price.

"We’ll get him back to Melbourne, give him a breather and get him to the Blue Diamond,” Price added.

The colt jumped well and dived along the inside to share the lead with So Serene, where at the 200m mark he found a kick and drew away to a thrilling finish under the guidance of Glyn Schofield.

“He’s a nice colt with a natural speed and a turn of foot,” said Schofield.

“He was still a bit green but he'll keep learning and has a bright future,” Schofield added.

In addition to $290,000 in prizemoney for his trainer and owners, the Inglis Nursery winner bestowed $100,000 worth of bonuses on his breeders Bell River Thoroughbreds, as they were named as both the vendor and supplier of the colt at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in February.

“I said to my wife this morning good luck like this doesn’t happen to us it happens to other people, but I was wrong. We couldn’t be more thrilled, it’s an incredible initiative by Inglis,” said Bell River Thoroughbreds’ Andrew Ferguson.

“I’m about to go out and give Extremely an extra special pat!” added Ferguson.

Extreme Choice has also earned his connections enviable prizes from Swarovski Optiks and Antler Luggage. Price received a set of Swarovski Optik EL 42 Swarovision binoculars, and Schofield and the colt’s managing owner received great luggage from Antler.

Extreme Choice follows in the footsteps of previous Inglis Nursery winner Mossfun, which went on to win the Golden Slipper, and Odyssey Moon, which was the only juvenile to compete in all three legs of the Triple Crown in 2015.
