Inglis Classic day - Nominations online

Racenet - Nic Ashman - Monday, 14 January 2013

A total of 20 horses have been nominated for the $250,000 Inglis Classic (1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday and the nominations for the eight-race card are online.

The Robbie Laing-trained Direct Charge took out the Group III Maribyrnong Plate at Flemington on November 10 before finishing fourth behind Swing Vote and Twilight Royale at Rosehill on January 5.

Twilight Royale’s second placing followed on from a victory over 1000 metres at Warwick Farm on debut where she beat stablemate Fuerza.

The Bjorn Baker-trained Fuerza has been nominated for Saturday’s race and will wear blinkers for the first time.

Baker also has Awarewolf in the event while champion trainer Gai Waterhouse will send Marseille Roulette to the races for the first time.

The son of Golden Slipper placegetter Zizou won a Randwick barrier trial on January 4 over 740 metres.

Darren Smith has nominated Testarhythm for the benchmark 95 handicap. The galloper won the Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m) at Gosford last Thursday.

Also nominated for the sprint is the talented Single, who resumes from a spell after winning four of his five starts last campaign including the Listed Sky High Stakes (1900m).
