Inglis Classic Sale Now Online

Graduates of the Inglis Sydney Classic Sale have enjoyed a remarkable 12 months of success and the catalogue for the 2009 renewal of the sale is now online.

The 2009 Inglis Sydney Classic Sale will be held at Newmarket over three sessions from February 8-10.

For a sale that has averaged between just $30,000 and $40,000 in the past five years, the Classic sale is never overshadowed when it comes to the racetrack success of its graduates.

Tell A Tale became the fourth individual Classic graduate to win at Group 1 level in 2008 when he won this month’s $1million G1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas.

The son of Tale Of The Cat was a $40,000 graduate of the 2007 sale.

From the same sale came Street Cry’s outstanding son Whobegotyou, winner of the $1million G1 Caulfield Guineas and dual Group 2 events this spring who cost his owner just $19,000.

Earlier this year, Triple Honour (Honours List), a $50,000 graduate of the 2006 sale, took out the G1 Doncaster Handicap, while Typhoon Zed is a dual Group 1 winner in 2008.

A $62,500 graduate of the 2005 Classic Sale, the son of Zeditave won the G1 AJC The Galaxy during the autumn and returned to claim the G1 Manikato Stakes this spring.

The recent spring carnival saw the emergence of this season’s leading two-year-old Our Joan Of Arc, who claimed the rare Gimcrack Stakes - Maribyrnong Plate interstate double. The Beautiful Crown filly cost her connections just $15,000.

The 2009 catalogue comprises 607 lots by 114 individual sires, the majority of whom are BOBS eligible.

Classic Sale flagbearer Choisir, who cost just $55,000 in 2001, is one of the rising talents in the sire ranks and has 14 yearlings catalogued. Among his 2008-09 stakes winners is $25,000 Classic graduate Sara’s Choice.

Prolific sires of winners Beautiful Crown and Commands – both who have had Classic graduates win the rich $1million Golden Rose – are represented by 11 yearlings each.

Tale Of The Cat (8), Street Cry (6), Zeditave (4) and Honours List (1) – the sires of this year’s Classic Sale Group 1 winners - are also represented.

Other proven sires with multiple entries include Magic Albert (18), Catbird (15), Arena (15), Royal Academy (13), Canny Lad (11), Mossman (11), Secret Savings (10), Hussonet (7), Rock Of Gibraltar (6) and Anabaa (5).

Australia’s Champion Sire of 2006-07 Flying Spur is represented by four yearlings.

Of the freshmen, 22 new faces are represented, headed by Snippetson (17), Benicio (14), Oratorio (14), Bradbury’s Luck (11) and Foreplay (11), who all have double figure drafts set for the Newmarket Sale.
