Inglis purchase Murcielaga earned connections a $50,000 bonus at Warrnambool

Murcielaga's owners got an instant return of their investment when the Testa Rossa colt scored an impressive win in the $22,500 Simon's Waterfront Inglis Bonus (1200m) at Warrnambool.

Not only did the Mike Moroney-trained two-year-old collect the $13,650 first prizemoney for his debut win, but also a $50,000 bonus on offer to Inglis graduates.

Moroney stable representative Matt Hoysted said this race became the target once it was obvious the youngster who cost $220,000 at last year's Easter Yearling Sale had talent.

“He's always shown a fair bit of ability at home so it's good to see him come here and do it today,” Hoysted said.

“The $50,000 Inglis Bonus always helps. He was a $220,000 purchase so it was good to get some back.”

Murcielaga powered to victory on the back of an impressive turn of foot approaching the home straight.

The $7.50 chance scored by three lengths from Kim Command ($15) with Cool God ($4.80) a half-length back third.

The victory continued a stellar Tabcorp Warrnambool May Racing Carnival for Nick Hall. It completed a winning double for Hall, who earlier scored aboard the Dale Short-trained Academy Jack, and took his week's tally to five winners.
