Inglis Fillies Crowned Champions at Equus Awards, South Africa

Australian bred and Inglis sold fillies Enitsaar and Alboran Sea received accolades at the 2015 South African Racing Association Equus Awards overnight, Champion Two-year-old Filly and Champion Three-year-old Filly titles respectively.

Entisaar– Champion Two-year-old Filly

Shadwell Stud’s Entisaar (More Than Ready x Purrpurrlena) was named Champion Two-year-old Filly, marking the second consecutive year Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s racing entity has won the title with an Inglis graduate following Arrowfield Stud-bred Majmu’s victory in 2014.

Entisaar, the precocious daughter of Vinery Stud’s More Than Ready was bred by Echo Beach Bloodstock and Mr Brian Singer, and bought by Shadwell from Vinery’s draft at the 2014 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale for $300,000. The filly’s outstanding record of three wins and one second have all been at stakes level, including her most recent victory at Group 1 level in the Allan Robertson Championship at Scottsville. Entisaar’s breeders have retained to race her two-year-old sister Purrari, which is in training with Gai Waterhouse.

Alboran Sea –Champion Three-year-old Filly

The Rosemont Stud-bred and sold Alboran Sea (Rock Of Gibraltar x Lady's Light) was awarded Champion Three-year-old Filly. The Mike de Kock-trained filly already had a Group 1 win on her resume as a two-year-old, but flourished into one of the country's finest sprinters in her three-year-old year.

Last season Alboran Sea netted three wins and two placings from six starts, highlighted by Group 1 wins in the Kenilworth Cape Flying Championship and the Turffontein Computaform Sprint both over 1000m, before running second in the Group 1 City Of Pietermaritzburg Sprint, shortly after which she was retired due to injury.

The filly, which is owned Michael Javett and Mary Slack, was purchased by Form Bloodstock for $105,000 from 2013 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

The family of the Champion filly continue to kick goals in the sale ring with her sister Pink Jubilee selling in foal to Sepoy for $270,000 at the 2015 Inglis Broodmare and Weanling Sale from the draft of Three Bridges Thoroughbreds.

Alboran Sea's yearling half-brother by Toorak Toff was sold from the draft of Rosemont Stud to Hong Kong interests for $300,000 at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale earlier this year.
