Inglis Graduates Content On Stepping Up In Asia

Inglis graduates completed another successful weekend in Asia on Sunday winning nine races across Singapore Derby Day and the final meeting for the Hong Kong racing season.

Tenacious galloper Stepitup (Hussonet x Ain't Seen Nothin’) recorded his seventh stakes win at Kranji by carrying top weight of 59kgs to victory in the Singapore Group 3 Yew Tee Classic over 1800m. Sunday’s win took Stepitup’s career prize money earnings to S$1,740,000, a wonderful return on the A$90,000 his connections paid for him at the 2011 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale when offered by Bellerive Stud as Lot 379.

Inglis Easter graduate Hermano Menor (Duporth x Sunday Service) took his record to four wins from nine starts in Singapore when saluting yesterday, while Inglis Ready2Race Sale graduate Lucky Giant (Starcraft x Erthakit) proved too good for his opposition winning earlier in the day, also over 1200m.

Michael Freedman’s exciting three-year-old Wimbledon placed additional awareness on his younger half-brother that will be offered at the 2015 The Star Ready2Race Sale with a very close second placing in the Singapore Group 3 Paititi Gold Trophy over 1200m on Sunday.

Six races during the final meeting for the 2014/15 Hong Kong racing season were won by Inglis graduates yesterday, led by the country’s Most Improved awardee Contentment (Hussonet x Jemison).

Contentment started the season unraced and under the training of John Size the four-year-old has risen in rating from 52 to over 100 thanks to six wins and one placing from nine starts. The son of Hussonet was an A$65,000 purchase by John Foote Bloodstock from Arrowfield Stud at 2012 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and earned HK$5,764,600 (=A$1,000,500) this season.

The only other horse to win six races during the Hong Kong season was the John Moore trained Able Friend, which claimed the titles of Champion Miler and Horse of the Year at The Hong Kong Jockey Club Champion Awards on Friday evening. Read the full story HERE.

John Moore claimed his seventh Hong Kong trainer’s premiership having prepared 70 wins for the season, 28 of which were by Inglis graduates.

Six wins on Sunday by Jun Gong, Midnight Rattler, Thors Bolt, Go Sandy Go, Contentment and Colossus took the overall number of races won by Inglis graduates in Hong Kong for the season to 148, which is equal to 19% of the total 777 races run.

Jun Gong (Spinning World x Toby Bess), Midnight Rattler (Clang x Mezentseva) and Contentment were all sold as yearlings at Inglis Classic, Go Sandy Go (Encosta de Lago x Note of Desire) and Colossus (Street Sense x Raven Protector) are graduates of Inglis Premier, while Thors Bolt (Host x Helogen) was purchased from the Inglis Ready2Race Sale.
