Inglis Graduates Power Away With AJC Targets

Australasia's most improved horse Vision And Power and wonder galloper Takeover Target added to the Inglis Group 1 tally on a day where slick sprinter Secret Flyer also delivered a timely reminder of next week's Inglis Melbourne Autumn Yearling Sale.

The Group 1 winning duo led a haul of seven stakes wins for Inglis graduates around Australia today.

VISION AND POWER ($210,000 Easter 2004, 6g Carnegie-Escada) emulated Racing To Win and Haradasun in completing the Ryder-Doncaster double when coming from well back to land the famous mile.

Under the tutelage of trainer Joe Pride, the Nick Moraitis owned galloper is now a dual Group 1 winner of nearly $2million.

He was offered for sale by Waikato Stud, who later celebrated success in the G1 AJC Oaks with Daffodil. A Pins half-brother to the Oaks winner was snapped up by Scone Bloodstock Services for $160,000 at last week's Easter Sale.

Earlier, Randwick racegoers stood as one to applaud and admire the grand nine-year-old TAKEOVER TARGET ($1,250 2003 Mixed, 9g Celtic Swing-Shady Stream), who added yet another Group 1 to his record when making a one act affair of the G1 T.J. Smith Stakes.

Unbeaten in three starts this season and racing better than ever, he is now the winner of 20 races - 7 at Group 1 level - and $5.8million.

The wins by Takeover Target and Vision And Power bring the tally of Group 1 races won in Australia by Inglis graduates this season to 19.

The AJC card also saw FRAVASHI ($550,000 2007 Easter, 3c Falbrav-Angelic Smile) and PRIMA NOVA ($400,000 2006 Easter, 4m Danehill Dancer-Bonanova) add new stakes wins to their records when taking the G3 South Pacific Classic and LR JRA Plate respectively.

In Adelaide, the flying I AM INVINCIBLE ($62,500 Classic, 4h Invincible Spirit-Cannarelle) backed up his recent cavalier Caulfield win when running his rivals ragged to win the Listed Evright.com Stakes at Morphettville.

Graduates also claimed a stakes double at Eagle Farm.

Consistent mare RUSSETING ($90,000 2006 Classic, 4m Commands-Granny Apple) posted an important black type success when taking the Listed Juanmo Quality. She is now the winner of eight races in 19 outings for earnings of $182,000.

MOULIN LADY ($55,000 2006 Australian Select Weanling, 3f Reset-Laoub), who was a successful pinhook for Ascot Farm (later selling for $150,000 as a yearling), lived up to some good form lines in Sydney last preparation when proving a touch too good in the Listed Princess Stakes.

This year's Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale will be held over three days on June 25, 26 & 28.

Nominations for this sale, which includes both weanling and Breeding stock sections, close on Friday May 1.

SECRET FLYER ($29,000 2005 Autumn, 5g Secret Savings-Lanadee) again showed big race potential when coming from last to win the RDA Victoria Sprint with ease at Flemington.

Already a stakes winner this season, Secret Flyer has now won 8 from 19 with $258,000 in the bank.

The 2009 Melbourne Autumn Yearling Sale will be held over two days from next Sunday, April 26, at Oaklands and features a catalogue of 373 yearlings.

Graduates of this sale are eligible for the $2,500,000 Inglis Race Series, in addition to the $100,000 Autumn Plate, which is restricted to Autumn Yearling Sale graduates only.
