Inglis Graduates Shoot for Dubai Glory

Graduates of the famous Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale will be on show at the World’s richest meeting this weekend when they tackle a number of races at the Dubai World Cup meeting.

Easter graduates are no strangers to success in Dubai. International star Elvstroem won the Group 1 Dubai Duty Free in 2005, while last year, Redoute’s Choice colt Musir (pictured) was a dominant winner of the Group 2 UAE Derby.

MUSIR (P$900,000 2008 Easter, 4h Redoute’s Choice-Dizzy De Lago) is back again, this time making an attempt on the showpiece Dubai World Cup. The Mike de Kock trained entire was unbeaten in three starts at Meydan last year and in the current season has clocked two seconds in lead-ups to the World Cup.

DYNAMIC BLITZ ($1.4million 2006 Easter, 6g Elusive Quality-Assertive Lass) has shown a real liking for all weather surfaces, both in Hong Kong and now Dubai and he tackles the Group 1 Golden Shaheen on the program. He goes into the race having coasted to an easy win in the Group 3 Al Shandagha Sprint at Meydan last month.

The third Easter graduate competing at the meeting is BETTER BE THE ONE ($485,000 2008 Easter, 4g More Than Ready-Common Smytzer). Formerly known as Common Interest in Australia, he was a stakes winning two-year-old and twice winning three-year-old for the Lee Freedman stable. He was then transferred to Michael Freedman’s stable in Singapore, where he has easily won three of his four starts. Better Be The One is among entries for the Group 2 Al Quoz Sprint.

Melbourne’s Premier Sale is also represented in Dubai, with LE DRAKKAR ($155,000 2007 Premier, 5h Anabaa-My Mo Rally). A Group 1 winner in South Africa as a three-year-old, Le Drakkar was Group 2 placed at Meydan last month and is set to run in the Group 2 Godolphin Mile.

This meeting also features a number of runners by stallions sold through the famous Inglis Newmarket sale ring.

EXCEED AND EXCEL ($375,000 2002 Easter, Danehill-Patrona, by Lomond) has become a successful dual hemisphere stallion for Darley since retiring from his Group 1 winning feats on the racetrack and he has Piccadilly Filly and Spin Cycle among entries for the big Dubai meeting.

CHOISIR ($55,000 2001 Classic, Danehill Dancer-Great Selection, by Lunchtime) has been similarly successful for Coolmore Stud and his Dubai presence is felt via the Irish-bred Monsieur Joe.

The 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale will be held in Sydney from April 5-7.
