Inglis Juveniles Quick Out of the Blocks

2009 graduates of Inglis yearling sales have made a superb start to the new season, with three highly impressive juvenile winners today.

The John McArdle trained SWEET CHEEKS (P$70,000 2009 Easter, 2f General Nediym-Captain's Command) opened up the new season 2yo stakes winning account when coming from well off the pace to land the Listed Scalzo Food Industries Stakes (1000m) at Flemington.

The filly was offered for sale by Glastonbury Farms and continued the great run of early season success for the ill-fated General Nediym.

The former Widden based stallion also won this race in 2005, with plunge winner I Got Chills, a $45,000 Melbourne Premier Sale graduate.

In Sydney, Patinack Farm opened up its 2009-10 juvenile winning account when RUN FOR WILSON ($22,500 2009 Premier, 2c Shamardal-Ocean Bridge) came with a similarly powerful burst to land the Listed Breeders' Plate (1000m).

The colt was offered for sale by Eliza Park Stud and became the first Australian stakes winner for Darley's French Derby winning son of Giant's Causeway, Shamardal.

Moments later, Shamardal added a second Australian stakes winner when the Mark Kavanagh trained SHAMOLINE WARRIOR ($60,000 2008 Premier, 3c Shamardal-Picholine) put himself firmly in the G1 Victoria Derby frame when winning the Listed UCI Stakes (1800m).

Shamoline Warrior is a half-brother to last year's Victoria Derby winner Rebel Raider and was bred by Toorak Park Stud in South Australia and sold through the Mill Park draft at Oaklands. An Exceed And Excel filly from Picholine sold to Shadwell for $300,000 at this year's Easter sale.

Rounding out the trio of impressive juveniles winners was STIRLING GROVE ($52,500 2009 Premier, 2g Mossman-Kalamata), who was heavily backed before winning the Fulham Park Plate (1000m) by panels of fencing at Morphettville.

He was sold by Vinery Stud, and is one of 91 live foals in Mossman's 2007 crop, for which Vinery hold very high hopes this season.
