26th Feb 2008

This Sunday March 2 marks the start of the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale and there will be a poignant reminder of what makes racing such an important part of Australian culture when a trio of “Living Legends” FIELDS OF OMAGH, MIGHT AND POWER and SILENT WITNESS will grace Inglis’ Oaklands Junction sale ring prior to the commencement of the sale at 12 noon.

All three are household names and in another reminder of Australia’s leading source of winners, all three are Inglis sale graduates ; Fields Of Omagh (Premier); Might And Power (Easter) and Silent Witness (Classic).

“It will be wonderful to welcome such a distinguished trio of champions to the sale, certainly in the case of Fields Of Omagh – the highest stakes earner ever to be sold in Victoria - it will be a homecoming for him as we sold him here in 1999.” said William Inglis & Son Director Peter Heagney, “while for Silent Witness, it will be the first time the former World Champion Sprinter will be out in public since his return to Australia.”

Living Legends is the retirement home for several former champions and is located close to the Oaklands Junction sales complex. The full list of Living Legends and opening hours can be viewed at www.livinglegends.org.au. Admission is free however donations are very much appreciated to maintain what is a great cause.
