Inglis Ready2Race breeze up footage NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE

The footage of breeze ups conducted at Hawkesbury, Wangaratta and Taupo this week, in the lead up to the Inglis Ready2Race Sale on October 15, is now available online.

At Taupo in New Zealand, the 8 New Zealand-based vendors presented an impressive line-up of horses, led by a pair from Prima Park who recorded the equal fastest time of the session, stopping the clock in 10.19 seconds for the 200m gallop.

They were the Exceed and Excel x Allez Bien colt (lot 7) and the Shamus Award x Pirellina gelding (lot 126).

“You’re never really going out there to run the fastest time, that’s never our goal but just to see how well they did it and I wasn’t surprised that they could do that as they’ve both been very switched on.” Kelly Van Dyk said.

“The Shamus Award is obviously bred to be more of a 3YO so you could probably forgive him if he’s not quite as sharp as a 2YO Exceed and Excel but he was really impressive today, right there with him so I’m rapt.

“I’m absolutely over the moon with how they’ve performed, I’ve got three very nice horses that have been a real pleasure to prepare.”

“We’ve supported Inglis for a numbers of years now and just find they’re so good to deal with, they always assemble such a good buying bench, it’s just a pleasure to sell with them and we’re happy to be back again this year,” she said.

The Bivouac x Sanako colt was another eye-catcher, breezing in a time of 10.50 seconds.

He is one of 12 2YOs to be consigned by Jamie Beatson’s Ohukia Lodge.

“They’ve all shown us a little bit, we’ve got a nice bunch, the Capitalist x Real Surreal colt (lot 138) he’s a nice horse and did a nice breeze up (10.58), he’s shown us a bit and has a bit of class about him,” Jamie Beatson said.

"The Bivouac is a nice big strong horse and did a nice breeze today. We’ve got some lovely horses going over, we’ve picked a quality draft to send and we’re excited to get to the sale.”

At Hawkesbury on Monday, the breeze session saw 2YOs by the likes of Starspangledbanner, Deep Field, Capitalist, Justify, Wotton Bassett and Written Tycoon impress, while the Tagaloa x La Magique colt (lot 84), pictured, from KBL Thoroughbreds posted the quickest time of 10.19.

“The Tagaloa x La Magique colt (lot 84) and Headwater x Lilakai colt (lot 92) are owned by a good client of ours that is based overseas, the Starspangledbanner we bought with a couple of friends as we thought we could turn him into something,” Kandice Pritchard of KBL Thoroughbreds said.

“We sent the draft down to Ed O’Rourke about 10 days ago for the breeze up day, but prior to that Ryan Tyrell of Fenwick Racing had those three 2YOs and it’s a family affair as our daughter Chelsea is the foreman and our eldest daughter Chloe [Lowe] – an apprentice jockey – has been riding them in all their work,” Pritchard said.

“The Bivouac gelding (lot 23), Proisir colt (lot 38) and I Am Invincible gelding (lot 12) have been prepared by Paul Butterworth on behalf of Simon Adams of Golden Gully Thoroughbreds.”

The final breeze up session was at Wangaratta on Tuesday and featured 2YOs by the likes of Too Darn Hot, Capitalist, Zoustar, Written Tycoon, Street Boss and Toronado amongst others.

Nolen Racing’s Zousain x Totally Sure colt (lot 186) recorded a slick 10.34 seconds, ahead of his Hanseatic x Musicmaker colt (lot 114) which stopped the clock at 10.39.

“They went exceptional,” Nolen said.

“They’re both really nice horses and have really good minds, I think that’s the secret there.

“The Hanseatic (lot 114) is a horse that has kept improving and he’s got a really good attitude, I think that will carry him a long way as a racehorse.

“The Zousain (186), he’s a bit bigger and a stronger looking horse with a great attitude too but they all went well and looked ok running down, which is the most important thing regardless of the time,” Nolen said.

Peter Moffatt’s draft of five was highlighted by the Rubick x Lady of War colt (lot 86) which breezed in 10.45.

“He’s a horse I’ve always thought a fair bit of since we broke him in, he breezed up the best today [on time] and I do honestly think he’s a quality colt to go with it,” Moffatt said.
