Inglis Rural Property of William Inglis and Son to manage sale of Twin Hills Stud Farm

Twin Hills, located 9km from Cootamundra and approximately 380km from Sydney and widely regarded as the finest thoroughbred stud in the region will be offered for sale this Spring by Inglis Rural Property.

The sale represents a rare opportunity to secure a leading Australian thoroughbred stud farm which offers significant scale, an excellent climate and extensive purpose built facilities.

Inglis Rural Property Sales Manager Sam Triggs noted “Twin Hills is built to exacting standards and an exceptional high finish throughout the entire facility. The farm boasts approximately 2,500 highly fertile acres, reliable rainfall and irrigation, abundant water and lakes and is very well positioned only 380km from Sydney and 9km from the regional centre of Cootamundra. Accommodation is extensive with 8 houses and cottages along with the 5 bedroom Twin Hills Homestead. The architect designed (Howard Tanner) stallion barn, mare complex and yearling barns are outstanding. The farm holds an enviable reputation for producing group class race track performers. Furthermore the farm conservatively carries approximately 300 Angus breeding cows and followers in addition to the 200 plus spelling and breeding horses”

William Inglis Director, Jamie Inglis has long admired the stud and provided a short history of this remarkable operation “Twin Hills has an illustrious reputation as one of Southern New South Wales premier bloodstock operations. Previous Twin Hills owners are arguably some of the most significant investors in the Australian thoroughbred industry during the past fifty years. Initially developed by Ferd Calvin, Twin Hills (then known as Dawson Stud) came to the fore with the standing of influential American stallion Dignitas along with Bold Aussie. The Cootamundra region was selected due to its reputation as a strong and quality agricultural region. Prominent media personality Mike Willese secured the prized Twin Hills stud farm from Calvin, rebranding under the name Transmedia Park Stud. Willesee’s impact was immediate and following the engagement of high profile architect Howard Tanner, the farm was completely redeveloped to a state of the art facility and what would be considered one of the best appointed studs in Australia. The improvements and in particular the architecturally designed stallion barn and yearling complex are outstanding. Willesee was responsible for standing some of Australia’s leading stallions at the time including Snippets, Rubiton, Sir Dapper, Sovereign Red and Cereto and his ‘stamp’ and investment on the farm is still evident today. Well known businessmen, Jack and Bob Ingham, recognising the quality and significance of the improvements purchased Twin Hills at auction by William Inglis and Son at Newmarket during an Easter yearling sale. The Ingham brothers developed the stud further ensuring its reputation as one the great nurseries on the eastern seaboard was continued. It was managed within the wider Ingham thoroughbred portfolio under the title Woodlands Stud Cootamundra with stallions Strategic, Domesday and Quest for Fame stood during their tenure. The farm was sold following the Ingham’s divestment of their greater thoroughbred bloodstock, racing, breeding and stud business to the present owner Godolphin”.

“Consistent with Godolphin’s overall distinctive high standards further capital was invested into Twin Hills to make the farm complete. Many of Godolphin’s successful stallion’s careers began at Twin Hills” Inglis concluded.

Inglis Rural Property will be offering the property for sale this Spring.
