William Inglis & Son Limited are pleased to be able to react to market demand and announce the re-scheduling of their 2&3 year-olds Breeze Up Sale.
Originally set down for October 28, the sale had been postponed due to EI but will now be held at Oaklands Junction on Friday December 14. Such has been the interest from both buyer and seller alike that this sale will now be held in conjunction with The December Bloodstock Sale to be held the same day.
“We had a lot of enquiries from all around Australia regarding the sale in its original date,” explained Victorian Director and auctioneer, Peter Heagney. “The market told us that it is looking for horses and we were determined that we do everything possible to make it happen. So many people have been affected by the EI situation that we felt it imperative that we do what we can, support the industry and ensure that the sale can take place.”
Due to the Federal Government imposed sanctions on horse transport, only horses from the southern states will be offered. This will not only satisfy Government criteria, but will also allow buyers to bid with confidence, knowing that the horses are originating from areas that so far have been free of Equine Influenza.
With the recent announcement that Hong Kong will accept Victorian racehorses for the International meeting in December under set guidelines, Inglis will target further Asian Markets that currently have imposed bans on Australian horses entering to allow them to purchase at the sale.
“This news from Hong Kong augurs well for us to make a case to other Asian Markets to make exception to Victorian horses’, Heagney pointed out.
Standard bio-security measures will be in place but these are essential to ensure that Victoria does all it can to maintain its disease-free status. Heagney is satisfied that with the necessary measures in place to safeguard those attending, the sale will be held in as near to normal conditions as possible. “These are extraordinary times for all of us, but the spirit of vendors is such that the show must go on and we are delighted that the support from the marketplace has been so positive and robust. The standard of entries already received indicates that the catalogue for both sales will be excellent.”
Entries for the Breeze-Up and Thoroughbred Sales on December 14 will close on November 23. Horses originally entered for the 2&3YO Breeze-Up Sale need not re-enter. Enquiries can be made direct with the team at William Inglis & Son Limited at Oaklands Junction by calling 039 333 1422.
