Inglis sprints into The Valley deal

Inglis is thrilled to be the new naming rights sponsor of the popular 55 Second Challenge race series at The Valley.

The series comprises 16 races, each run over 955m, at The Valley on 16 different Friday nights during spring and summer.

The trainer of the fastest official race winner will receive a $50,000 credit voucher at a 2017 Inglis sale of his or her choice.

Should there be a tie, the $50,000 will be split evenly among the number of winning trainers.

The partnership comes as Inglis celebrates its 150th birthday in 2017.

Inglis Victorian Bloodstock Manager Simon Vivian was excited about the partnership.

“Night racing The Valley is one of the great things as the weather is warming back up and then into summer, so to be associated with the 55 Second Challenge is fantastic,’’ Vivian said.

“It’s great to partner up with the Moonee Valley Racing Club in the summer months leading in to our primary sales of 2017.

“This is also a thank you to our Victorian-based clients who support our sales and I’m sure an extra $50,000 to take to a sale next year will be of huge significance.’’

Moonee Valley Racing Club’s General Manager of Marketing and Commercial Operations, David Galbally, said the winning prize could result in the purchase of a future champion.

“The 55 Second Challenge is a feature of our Friday Night race meetings and is a great innovation for racing,’’ Galbally said.

“Entering its seventh year, we are excited that Inglis have extended their partnership with the Moonee Valley Racing Club and are providing trainers with the chance to win $50,000 to invest in a future champion.

“We look forward to working with Inglis to continue to develop the spectacle that is the Inglis 55 Second Challenge.''

The 2016/17 series begins this Friday night with Heat 1, race 5 at The Valley at 8.30pm.

Last year's winning trainer was Darren Weir, with Tuscan Sling running 54.90 secs.
