Trainers and connections are reminded that nominations for the two Inglis Race Series events to be run at Randwick on Saturday week, close this Monday, December 14.
Highlighted by the Group Two Inglis Villiers Stakes, Inglis Villiers Raceday on December 19 will feature the inaugural running of the $250,000 2YO Inglis Nursery and $100,000 3YO Inglis Bonus.
To complement the hugely successful $250,000 2YO Inglis Juvenile at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day, the 2009 Inglis Nursery is restricted to graduates of Inglis' 2009 Yearling Sales who are entered for the $2.6million Inglis Race Series.
“The Inglis Juvenile has proven an outstanding success, with the inaugural winner Starspangledbanner training on to take this year’s Group 1 Caulfield Guineas,” Inglis Commercial Development Manager Matt Rudolph said.
“There’s every reason to think the Inglis Nursery can produce a similarly classy winner, as the race is programmed at a time when a lot of trainers like to test their better two-year-olds before setting them aside and aiming at autumn riches.”
The order of entry for the 1000m 2YO event can be found HERE. With many of those horses at the top of the order already in the paddock, the opportunities to gain a start will open up and trainers with unraced runners should not be discouraged from entering, as there is every chance they may secure a start in this valuable contest.
There is also a $100,000 Inglis Race Series Bonus attached to the Benchmark 80 Handicap for 3YO's over 1400m on the program.
This is the last of 15 races for 2008 Inglis Yearling Sale graduates to take home an Inglis Race Series bonus in New South Wales and Victoria since November last year.
The final race in the Series for three-year-olds is the Scone Inglis Guineas, to be run on Scone Cup Day, May 14, with all monies paid into the inaugural series remaining after the December 19 event to be disbursed as prizemoney in the Guineas.
“The Group 2 Villiers Stakes has long been a highlight of summer racing in Sydney and Inglis is proud to be associated with the AJC for this prestigious meeting,” Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster said.
“The Inglis Nursery should draw together a quality field, given the $250,000 on offer and the winner of the Bonus race for 3YO’s will receive in excess of $140,000 if eligible for the race series, which is prizemoney you normally associate with Group races during carnival time.”
Last year’s Villiers was won by the ill-fated Gary Portelli trained Something Anything (Magic Albert), a $40,000 graduate of the 2005 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, who won more than $560,000 before his sad demise this year.
The 2010 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale will be held at Newmarket on January 24 and 25.
