Inglis have been officially recognised as Australian Industry Leaders at the 2009 Australian Business Award’s, winning two of the most prestigious and highly sought after awards for International Trade and Innovation.

The Awards recognise organisations that demonstrate the core values of business excellence, product excellence, sustainability and commercial success in their respective industries.

The International Trade Award recognised Inglis’ achievements in attracting international investment through buyer recruitment strategies, international marketing and promotional trade missions.

“We’ve been working extremely hard with industry participants and government bodies such as Events NSW, Regional Development Victoria and Austrade to attract international investment from both established and emerging markets and it is great to see this co-operation pay off”, said Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster.

“Our international representatives and staff who conduct trade missions abroad do a great job promoting Inglis all over the world and building relationships with key international investors.”

“International participation increased from 32 per cent to 38 per cent of the sale gross at the 2009 Australian Easter Yearling Sale, which was an amazing result in the prevailing economic climate.”

The Innovation Award acknowledged Inglis as a market leader in the use of digital technology, with the introduction of live internet bidding during auctions, the world’s first internet based equine digital x-ray repository, Inglis TV, Inglis eCommerce, the unique Inglis Race Series for yearling sale graduates, the Inglis Sharemarket to connect new owners with racehorse syndicators, the post sale online Make-An-Offer service and the best thoroughbred sales website using the most advanced sales search functionality on the market.

“All of these innovations have helped us to achieve excellent yearling sale clearance rates in 2009, the best of any thoroughbred auction house in the world, which was crucial for our vendor clients in a tough market. We’ve demonstrated that it’s possible for a company founded in 1867 to maintain its core values of loyalty and integrity, yet also be the most contemporary and innovative in the way we do business today.” Webster added.

A spokesperson for the Australian Business Awards said, “The 2009 Awards attracted a very high standard of entries from the Australian business community in times of great change. This year’s winners displayed exceptional performance and leadership in their respective industries, and are role models for any organisation striving for business and product excellence.”
