Inglis yearlings star in 2012 World Rankings

Led by undefeated superstar BLACK CAVIAR Australian bred racehorses that were offered at Inglis Select Yearling Sales have starred in the 2012 World Thoroughbred Rankings released by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities.

For the third straight year, $210,000 Melbourne Premier purchase Black Caviar was rated the Champion Sprinter in the World following an assigned rating of 130. The daughter of Bel Esprit also headed the Four Years Old and Up Mares Mile category for her domination in the Gr.1 C.F. Orr Stakes over 1400m.

“It confirms her position as the greatest sprinter and the greatest female equine athlete world racing has seen in the modern era,” said Australia’s representative on the World Thoroughbred Rankings Committee, Greg Carpenter.

Australian-bred horses dominated the Turf Sprint division filling the top seven spots, including Easter Sale entire FOXWEDGE. The strapping son of Fastnet Rock was given a rating of 121 for his victory over Hay List in the Gr.1 William Reid Stakes.

In an amazing feat fellow Easter Sale graduates ALL TOO HARD and MOSHEEN were bestowed the titles of Champion 3YO Mile (Turf) and Champion 3YO Filly Mile (Turf) respectively.

All Too Hard, which topped the 2011 Easter Sale at $1,025,000, shares the title of World Champion 3YO Mile on Turf following his outstanding performance in winning the Gr.1 Caulfield Guineas. The highly valuable colt later achieved a career high rating of 121 for his courageous second placing in the Gr.1 W.S. Cox Plate over 2040m.

$250,000 Easter Sale purchase Mosheen was the world’s highest rated 3YO filly in the mile category with her win against the males in the Gr.1 Australian Guineas.

The start of the 2013 Inglis Select Yearling Sale Series is just around the corner.

The series gets underway at 11am this coming Sunday, 20 January with Day One of the Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale – Summer Book. 467 lots have been catalogued for the two day sale.

775 lots have been catalogued for the 2013 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, which will be conducted at Oaklands on 3, 4, 5 & 6 March.

Attention then moves to the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale at Newmarket on 9, 10 & 11 April. The anticipated star of the show is no doubt the Redoute’s Choice x Helsinge colt, a half-brother to Black Caviar and All Too Hard which were crowned the world’s best in their respective categories.
