Insterstate Group 1 Double

Each of the four major yearling sales conducted by Inglis in Melbourne and Sydney provided feature winners today, highlighted by the Group 1 double of Black Caviar and Ilovethiscity.

BLACK CAVIAR ($210,000 2008 Premier, 4m Bel Esprit-Helsinge) simply leaves onlookers gasping and her Newmarket win elevated her already stratospheric aura to an even greater level today.

The daughter of Bel Esprit now boasts 10 wins in 10 starts as historians reach for the record books trying to put her feats into context. Black Caviar made a mockery of her record 58kg to destroy yet another high class field.

She was one of five feature race winners on the big Flemington card for Inglis graduates.

Her Casino Prince half-brother is sure to be among the stars of next month’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

In Sydney, ILOVETHISCITY ($40,000 2009 Classic, 3c Magic Albert-Kensington Rose) atoned for his unlucky defeat in last year’s Golden Rose to notch his maiden Group 1 success in the Randwick Guineas.

In winning, he becomes the third Group 1 winner for Yarraman Park stallion Magic Albert, a horse that has been one of the form sires in the early part of 2011.

Classic is also the source of Group 3 Skyline Stakes winner UATE ($47,500 2010 Classic, 2c Ad Valorem-Long Walk). Now unbeaten in three starts, connections have to decide if they are going to pay the hefty late entry fee to run in this year’s Golden Slipper.

Back down in Melbourne, another Classic star enhanced his already impressive record.

WHOBEGOTYOU ($19,500 2007 Classic, 5g Street Cry-Temple Peace) took his earnings beyond the $3million mark when proving a shade too good in the Group 2 Blamey Stakes, when producing a sizzling final sectional.

The Mark Kavanagh trained gelding was a dominant Caulfield Guineas winner at three and has been consistent at the top level ever since, missing a place just five times in 27 starts.

RUNNING TALL ($500,000 2010 Easter, 2c Stratum-Fleeting Touch) lived up to his excellent second to Sepoy in the Blue Diamond Prelude (G3) when taking the Group 2 VRC Sires Produce Stakes.

Trained by Danny O’Brien, Running Tall was a graduate of Widden Stud, who will offer a More Than Ready half-sister at next month’s Easter Sale.

PINKER PINKER ($120,000 2009 Premier, 3f Reset-Miss Marion) won the G3 Schweppervescence Trophy to make it back-to-back Group wins this time in. In winning as a three-year-old, she emulated fellow Inglis graduate Response, who won the race 12 months ago before going on to Group 1 success in the spring.

Rounding out the big day at Flemington for Inglis, ORBIT EXPRESS (P$18,500 2005 Autumn, 7g Dangerous-Look For Venus) gave a great pointer to next month’s Melbourne Autumn Yearling Sale when winning the Listed First 4 Jackpot Stakes (1400m).

The Steve McKinnon trained gelding has been a wonderful performer over a number of seasons and with this his 12th win, he took his earnings beyond the $600,000 mark.

The 2011 Melbourne Autumn Yearling Sale will be held at Oaklands from April 17-18.

Completing the big two-state black type attack, WARPATH ($55,000 2008 Easter, 4m Reset-Only Vanda) opened her stakes winning account in the Listed Aspiration Quality.

The John O’Shea trained mare had been in superb form over the summer, winning a hat-trick of races and she was handsomely rewarded when making it four on end here.
