Yarraman Park sold four year-old Sichuan Success provided leading young sire Fastnet Rock with an important winner at the big International Day meeting at Sha Tin on Sunday.

Stepping up to 1600 metres for the first time, Sichuan Success was beautifully ridden by champion jockey Douglas Whyte who had the four year-old settled in fourth spot for much of the race.

When asked for an effort in the straight he powered clear to win the Class Two event by a length and a half in a stylish performance.

Trained by John Size, Sichuan Success has been ultra consistent winning four times and running second twice from seven starts.

Purchased for $135,000 from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale by John Foote Bloodstock, Sichuan Success (pictured as a yearling) was bred by Andrew Bowcock and is the ninth foal of terrific producer Coureuse.

He is a half-brother to stakes-placed Tom Coureuse and Pirouettes as well as good HK galloper Yellow Diamond, his dam a daughter of Magic Millions winner Dancer’s Joy.

Nine yearlings by Fastnet Rock will be offered at the 2011 Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale in January.

The stock of Fastnet Rock are proving popular and successful in Hong Kong with four winners from seven runners to date, their good temperament and strong constitution reminiscent of the Danehill stock that dominated in Hong Kong for many years before his premature death in 2003.
