International Race Mares For Sale

16th Nov 2005

THE William Inglis & Son Christmas Thoroughbred Sale at Newmarket in Sydney next Friday, 25th November, has attracted unprecedented interest with the addition of several outstanding race mares in the Written Bloodstock Dispersal draft.

William Inglis & Son Managing Director Reg Inglis said the sale had attracted international interest with mares by such globally dominant sires as Storm Cat and A.P. Indy to be auctioned at the sale, which starts at 11am. “We have had enormous interest in the Written Bloodstock Dispersal with buyers having the opportunity to purchase mares with international appeal as well as several excellent racing prospects,” he said.

The Written Bloodstock draft includes such superbly-bred mares as Sheer Brilliance, by A.P. Indy out of Gone West mare Simadartha and from the immediate family of champion European colt of 2004, Bago. Alluring Song, by all-conquering Sadler’s Wells stallion El Prado, is yet another mare who will be squarely in the spotlight at Newmarket next Friday.

Seattle Slew stallion A.P. Indy stands at Lane’s End farm in Kentucky at a 2006 fee of $US300,000. He was the leading North American sire of stakes winners in 2005 and is currently among the top five US sires, with his mares fetching up to $US3.7 million at last week’s Keeneland November sale.

Another star attraction is three-year-old filly Tranquiil Storm – a daughter of seven time champion 2YO sire Storm Cat, who stands at Overbrook Farm in Kentucky at a fee of $US500,000 and whose yearlings averaged $US956,667 for a dozen sold at Keeneland in September.

The draft comprises 10 race mares including South African Group Onewinner Perfect Promise and racehorses such as stakes winner Dance The Waves, along with horses by sires such as Danehill and Octagonal.

The Christmas Sale catalogue also boasts eight mares with foals at foot by champion first crop sire and leading second crop sire More Than Ready, whose 17 stakes winners to date include Victoria Derby winner Benicio and Champagne Stakes winner Carry On Cutie.

In addition there are fillies by Commands, Dracula, Danehill Dancer (IRE), Xaar (GB), Encosta de Lago, Volksraad (GB), Loup Sauvage (USA), Generous (IRE), Octagonal, Quest for Fame (GB), Desert King (IRE), Secret Savings (USA) and Nothin’ Leica Dane.
