Inz’n’out blasts rivals out of the race

Racenet - Paul Joice - Saturday, 8 August 2015

"They’re kidding themselves” was what winning jockey Josh Parr said about his rivals after being handed the Sky Racing Benchmark 79 Handicap (1200m) aboard Inz’n’out at Randwick on Saturday.

The heavily backed favourite ($3.20 into $2.30) from the Gerald Ryan stable bounced clearly in front from the outside gate and zipped across to lead.

On a day which has produced slick times with a good racing surface and a wind-assisted run home, it was a matter of how far when Parr gave Inz’n’out some rein at the top of the straight.

The winning margin was four lengths recording a fast time of 1:08.48.

Hawkes Racing’s Himalaya Dream was the early favourite but easy on track ($2.50 - $3.20). It looked the main danger on paper and travelled sweetly in the box-seat until they straightened but found nothing, dropping out to finish second last.

With Inz’n’out off and gone, the interest was in the minors and after the judge became involved it was the Gai Waterhouse-trained Marseille Roulette ($8) that finished second, a head in front of the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained El Sasso ($9.50).

"It was an easy task,” Parr said. "He showed good gate speed and controlled the race.

"They let me get away with sectionals like that in front. They’re kidding themselves.”

Inz’n’out, a four-year-old by Zariz, was gelded prior to this campaign and Saturday’s win was his first this preparation when third-up.

"He didn’t manage to win a listed race as a three-year-old so even though he was never really colty the owners wanted a racehorse so we made the decision to geld him,” Ryan said.

"He’s a handy sprinter and will work his way through the grades.

"The form around him is good. There could be a decent sprint race in him.”

Stewards questioned Ryan and Parr after the race regarding the tactical option of Inz’n’out leading after only seven days prior being ridden with a sit at Rosehill when runner-up behind Fell Swoop.

"When I got a length forward of Cassidy’s mount, I see the winning move is to go to the lead,” Parr told stewards.

Gerald Ryan gave instructions to look for a sit but was happy for Parr to use his initiative.

"He jumped half a length in front so what else was Josh going to do,” he said.
