2013 Melbourne Premier Catalogue Is Available

The catalogue for the 2013 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale is now available online and the Inglis Sales iPad app.

Melbourne Premier is well known as the source of outstanding sprinters Black Caviar, Sacred Kingdom, Starspangledbanner, Weekend Hussler and Ortensia.

The introduction of a “Blue Riband” session in 2013 is set to enhance Melbourne Premier’s exceptional record of also producing outstanding middle-distance and staying types, such as Pinker Pinker, Fields Of Omagh, Littorio, Hollow Bullet, Arapaho Miss and South African Horse of the Year Igugu.

The 2013 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale will be conducted over four days from Sunday 3 March to Wednesday 6 March 2013 at Oaklands. The online catalogue can be viewed at www.inglis.com.au.

The 775 lot catalogue is also available for download on the Inglis Sales iPad app, with hard copy catalogues set to arrive in mailboxes next week.

Selling will being at 2pm on Sunday afternoon 3 March with lots 1 to 120. This will be followed by three full auction days on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The newly introduced “Blue Riband” session, which is dedicated to yearlings whose pedigree and conformation suggests they should excel over the Classic/Cup distances, will be held early afternoon on Monday 4 March.

“The support from local and interstate vendors for not only the Blue Riband session but the overall sale has been tremendous and we are thoroughly pleased with the yearlings compiled,” said Inglis Melbourne Director Peter Heagney.

588 yearlings have been catalogued in Premier Session 1, which includes the “Blue Riband” yearlings, with another 187 in Premier Session 2.

“Thanks to the deeds of the horses sold here at Oaklands this sale has become one of the most talked about in the world,” Heagney adds.

“Breeders have been very keen to join the upward spiral of Premier, so this year we will see well-renowned vendors such as Coolmore Stud selling under their banner at the sale for the first time.

Eliza Park has the largest draft set for the sale with 60 yearlings. Swettenham Stud and Three Bridges have 29 each, while Supreme Thoroughbreds (28), Yallambee (26), Basinghall (25), Rosemont (23), Blue Gum (22) and Coolmore (21) are all very well represented.

Premier graduate Hvasstan provided the Gelagotis family some huge thrills during the recent Melbourne Spring Carnival and the colt’s champion sire Fastnet Rock will be represented by 7 yearlings in next year’s sale.

Black Caviar’s sire Bel Esprit has 25 catalogued for 2013 Premier, while Hay List’s sire Statue Of Liberty will be represented by 21 yearlings. Other proven sires set for the sale include Choisir (27), Commands (15), Domesday (22), Encosta de Lago (17), Exceed And Excel (17), Flying Spur (18), High Chaparral (28), Not A Single Doubt (14), Rock Of Gibraltar (9), Snitzel (12), Starcraft (21), Tale Of The Cat (14) and Testa Rossa (10).

Eliza Park resident stallion Wanted created a huge impressive when he won the time honoured Group 1 Newmarket Handicap. The son of Fastent Rock will be represented by 21 yearlings at Premier next year, more than all four other major yearling sales across Australasia combined.

Other first season sires represented in the 2013 Melbourne Premier catalogue include All American (9 lots), Big Brown (8), Denman (12), Duporth (6), Manhattan Rain (11), Medaglia D’Oro (2), Nicconi (18), O’Lonhro (7), Onemorenomore (8), Turffontein (14) and Von Costa de Hero (8).

The famous Inglis Open Day will be held on Sunday 3 March. The morning’s features will include a New Owners forum, introduction of Inglis Platinum Club, Callaway Driving Range, Parade of Living Legends Apache Cat and Sacred Kingdom, followed by the announcement of the winner of the Inglis/ Herald Sun Win A Share In A Racehorse competition. The 2013 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale will then get underway at 2pm.
