$3.58M Traded In Scone

The two-day Scone Yearling Sale concluded today, with another $832,000 in sales added to the outstanding Day 1 session on Thursday.

Today’s General Session achieved a clearance rate of 78% with another 144 horses selling at an average of $5778.

It completed a strong transition for the sale, which was held over two days for the first time this year.

Horses passed in during the sale are still available for sale via the Inglis Make an Offer service.

Thursday’s opening session was up 34% on 2009. Fittingly, Friday’s huge Scone Cup meeting saw a Scone graduate take centre stage when Star Of Octagonal romped away with the $770,000 Inglis Guineas.

Racing NSW has recognised what an important weekend this is for the Hunter Valley, granting the district a two-day meeting in 2011. The landmark stand alone Saturday meeting will become Inglis Guineas day.

The Inglis sales season now turns to Melbourne, with the five day Great Southern Sale beginning at Oaklands tomorrow.

The first two days will comprise the Great Southern Weanling Sale

Online bidding is available for those buyers unable to attend.

The Great Southern Bloodstock Sale will begin Wednesday and run through Thursday and Friday.
