Takeover Target's owner trainer Joe Janiak has turned up another bargain buy following the debut win of a Rock Of Gibraltar filly at Grafton on October 19.
Rockover Target, a 3YO filly out of Mrs Clancy, was knocked down to the former knockabout Queanbeyan taxi driver for $12,000 at the 2009 Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale, an excellent price for a yearling by the noted sire especially as her full sister recently changed hands for $150,000.
Rockover Target debuted in style, scoring a 1¾ lengths over 1100m.
Janiak owns the filly and believes she has a future as a broodmare.
“I bought her on spec at the Sydney sales for $12,000, I thought she was good value,” Janiak said after her Grafton win.
She's a nice and relaxed filly and should improve further.
“She won a trial at Grafton and has won her first start. You can't do much more.”
Janiak is building up a handy team of horses at Coffs Harbour to fill the void now he has confirmed there will be no comeback by Takeover Target as was suggested last month.
