Jenni is the Pride of Flemington once again!

It was a record-setting day for magnificent mare Pride Of Jenni (Pride Of Dubai) at Flemington today as she became the first horse to win multiple renewals of the G1 Empire Rose Stakes with a breathtaking front-running victory.

Famous for her racing style that has endeared herself to racing enthusiasts around the world, Pride Of Jenni was at her sublime best today, setting up a 15-length mid-race lead before eventually winning by 4.5 lengths.

It was a fourth career G1 for the now 8YO, who also became the first horse in 35 years to win the same Derby Day G1 in different years, having won the Empire Rose in 2023 in similar fashion.

Trained by Ciaron Maher, Pride of Jenni (pictured) has been one of Australia’s best-performed racehorses in recent seasons, with today’s victory her 12th overall and took her career prizemoney tally to more than $11.4m.

Tony and Lynn Ottobre bought Pride of Jenni for $100,000 at the Classic Yearling Sale, where she was offered by Segenhoe on behalf of her breeders Trelawney Stud and the Taylor Family Trust.

Trelawney’s Brent Taylor was at Flemington today with his wife Cherry to witness Pride Of Jenni’s demolition.

“It’s a huge thrill to be on course to watch that today. We were lucky enough to be here two years ago when she won the equivalent race and wow, how exciting to see that again,’’ Taylor said.

“I think we’re more excited now than we were two years ago, it’s just been such an emotional roller coaster with her and we’re just so thankful to be involved in some small way.

“We’re very fortunate, it’s just enormous. To see that mare dominate and perform up to the highest level again, it’s just fantastic for Tony and Lynn and the Ottobre family, for Ciaron and the whole operation.

“When she hit her stride and found herself relaxed and in her rhythm today, we thought she would be hard to beat and that’s how it played out. Her heart, tenacity and strength was there for all to see.’’

Tony Ottobre described today’s victory as “something really special’’.

“What a horse, I just can’t find the words to explain her. To see what she did today, Ciaron and his team have done a great job,’’ Ottobre said.

“As an eight-year-old she’s now the first horse to win the Empire Rose twice. She’s got a record that’s going to stay there for a long time and it’s well deserved. What we’ve seen, as she’s been racing over the years, is something really special. She deserved this 100%.’’

Pride Of Jenni is one of 112 G1-winning Inglis graduates since 2018.

Earlier on the Flemington program a pair of Inglis Digital graduates enjoyed feature race success, continuing the phenomenal run of Inglis’ online purchases winning black type races in recent weeks.

Firstly it was the $10,000 bargain buy Sheza Alibi (Saxon Warrior) winning the G3 Vanity Stakes before Caballus (I Am Invincible) won the G3 Rising Fast Stakes.

Queenslander Fred Noffke purchased Sheza Alibi online as a weanling in June 2023 and through his patience, the 3YO filly has never missed a place from six career starts, earning $265,000 in prizemoney and already presents as a valuable breeding prospect in time.

Today’s was the first win for the filly under the care of new trainers Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman.

“She laid the foundation at Caulfield last start with a very good effort in a strong race behind two very good colts [including today’s G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Tentyris], and out to a more suitable 1400m today she looked very well placed,’’ Moody said.

“Freddy Noffke and the crew, they’ve had this filly through her early days up in Townsville and Rockhampton and places like that and to see her come here and perform on Derby Day on the biggest stage, a big congratulations to all involved. We’ve had her down here for a good few months now and she’s done nothing but please us. It’s a well deserved victory today.’’

Noffke – enjoying his first trip to Flemington – added: “It’s amazing, staggering, I haven’t slept for three days.

“We hoped we had a nice horse and now we know we have a really nice horse.’’

And Darby Racing’s incredible success with their Inglis Digital purchases continued when Caballus won the G3 Rising Fast Stakes.

Caballus was bringing the $2m Sydney Stakes form to Melbourne Cup Week and it proved too strong as the Bjorn Baker-trained 5YO raced away to a comfortable victory.

Darby and Inglis Digital have enjoyed a fabulous relationship in recent years.

Among a plethora of their successful online purchases are Robusto – a $160,000 Inglis Digital buy which has since won the $2m The Ingham as well as another Stakes race - and Imperial Force ($285,000), now a dual winner and G2 placed.

Bred by Reg Ryan - who purchased his dam Calming Influence with Caballus in utero at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale – Caballus was sold in the first instance as a yearling at the Inglis Easter Sale.

Darby Racing then paid $315,000 for him through Inglis Digital and he has since won $660,000, with today’s win his third Stakes victory for his new connections.

The wins of Sheza Alibi and Caballus come after several Inglis Digital graduates have enjoyed black type success recently including Half Yours in the G1 Caulfield Cup and Tomadachi Kokoroe in the G2 Premier Bowl in Hong Kong.

Half Yours is $6.50 with Ladbrokes in Tuesday’s G1 Melbourne Cup at Flemington, having drawn barrier eight tonight.

The Inglis Digital November (Early) Online Sale is live and open for bidding now and features a stake in the VRC Oaks-bound filly Morisu Ojo.

Also at Flemington Getta Good Feeling (So You Think) firmed into a $2 favourite for Thursday’s G1 VRC Oaks at Flemington off the back of a comprehensive victory in today’s traditional lead-up, the G2 Wakeful Stakes.

It was a second career win for the Phoenix Broodmare Farm-bred 3YO filly, which looks destined for top-level success, possibly as soon as Thursday.

Dean Hawthorne paid $525,000 for Getta Good Feeling – on behalf of Pinecliff Racing’s Jonathan Munz – at the Easter Yearling Sale, where she was offered by Milburn Creek.

She is already G1 placed and has won her purchase price back in prizemoney from just six career starts.
