Mr M. Jeffrey, Mr M. Tierney, Mr P. Manning and Ms S. Sully

With a commanding victory in the Grp 1 QTC Queensland Oaks (2400m), there is no other recipient more worthy to have the honour of William Inglis Horse of the Month for June, bestowed on them, than Allow.

Conceived in the United States, Darley Australia brought the mare to Australia where she foaled a grey filly, later to be sold at the 2004 Melbourne Premier Yearling sale for $54,000 by Collingrove Stud as agent. Highlighting another example of the quality that can be purchased at the Oaklands Junction complex.

“ Melbourne Premier has always been a source of outstanding Victorian bred performers and we are thrilled that many of our breeders from outside the state have now discovered the excellent market that Oaklands offers,” stated Inglis Executive Director of Bloodstock, Jonathan D’Arcy.

Owned by Newhaven Park Stud and leased out to various owners, including the jubilant Channel 10 newsreader Sandra Sully who was on hand to bring the exciting young staying prospect back to scale after her dominant 2.8 length victory.

Rounding the home turn, Allow joined in with the leading division, and jockey Stathi Katsidis went for home, stating after the race "I wanted to make it a real staying test because I knew she would be strong at the end of 2400m."

Trained by Clarry Conners at Warwick Farm, Allow has had 15 career starts to date for 3 wins, earning her connections just over $250,000 in prizemoney. The grey filly was aimed at the Queensland Oaks, after a 2nd placing in the Moet and Chandon over 1700m on VRC Oaks day at Flemington, with Conners feeling, “She wasn't mature enough for Melbourne or Sydney so we thought this was a better option”.

Allows' pedigree contains many international classic performers including the Grp 1 Saint-Cloud Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud victor, Fragrant Miss, the winner of 5 races up to 2400m. With a pedigree like Allows’ D’Arcy feels she “ looks certain to measure up to the top staying races later this year”.
