June Thoroughbred Sale

30th Jun 2005

The 2005 June Thoroughbred Sale concluded at Oaklands Junction yesterday, with 553 horses selling for gross receipts of $5,481,450, at an average price of $9,912 and an excellent clearance rate of 87%.

“Overall it has been a very strong sale. Race fillies and geldings were in great demand and the buying interest was very strong right through until the end of the sale. Buyers from every state of Australia, New Zealand, Philippines and Korea were in attendance,” said Melbourne Manager Peter Heagney.

Earlier in the week, the June Weanling sale broke all records with a record gross of $3,314,554 and a record average price of $10,903, up 15% on last year and a very strong clearance rate of 91%.

A record price for a weanling was also set when lot 312, an athletic bay colt by Encosta de Lago from Wide Screen, was purchased by Kulani Park Thoroughbreds for $155,000.

The 2005 Spring Racing Carnival Ready To Run Sale will be held over two days, October 30 & 31. Entries are now being taken. Please visit www.inglis.com.au for an entry form.
