La Bella Roo showed plenty of ‘zoom -zoom’ when the daughter of Bel Esprit nailed Netra (Testa Rossa – Kinky by St. Jovite) in the Essendon Mazda 55 Second Challenge at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

With $55,000 on offer in heat nine of the innovative series developed by Moonee Valley, La Bella Roo gave her young trainer, Peter Boynton, plenty to smile about as she flew over the 955 metres in a very slick 55.4seconds.

With lucrative prizes awaiting connections of the fastest horse at season’s end Boynton will be hoping the slick time holds as previously Waltzes’ had stopped the clock at 55.62 seconds.

If it does, Boynton could be driving away in CX9 Classic from Essendon Mazda.

Jumping from barrier eight, La Bella Roo, settled off the speed under Jake Noonan, circled the field and nailed Netra in the shadows of the post.

It was La Bella Roo’s sixth win for her large syndicate of owners to take her earnings past $144,000. Boynton, who worked for Russell Cameron for many years before taking out his own licence, was thrilled with the mare and said, “she’s at the top of her game at the moment.”

Out of La Trio (by Manntari), a winner of four races, La Bella Roo is her second winner and hails from a family that has produced the Group I VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner, Helene Pillaging.

Exactly an hour later, Bel Esprit clocked up a double when his son Silver Bullion landed the $100,000 Sportingbet Premium Handicap.

Never out of the stewards’ report when 11th of 15 at Moonee Valley in November when held up for the majority of the straight. Silver Bullion, had even more excuses when down the track at his latest outing at Caulfield when suffering from atrial fibrillation.

Trained by Leon Corstens, Silver Bullion stormed home off a hot speed in the 1000-metre event to land the $61,000 first prize for his connections.

Winner of the Flemington Kensington Stakes at Listed level, Silver Bullion is out of the Desert King mare, Silver Barbie and is her first stakes winner.

Trainer Mark Kavanagh, sent punters home happy when Undeniably (ex Suggestive by Al Hareb) annihilated his rivals in the Moonee Valley Legends Handicap (1200m), the last race of the evening. Jumping best the son of Fastnet Rock, gave Billy Egan an easy ride, as they were never troubled by any of their rivals.

An imposing individual Undeniably will continue to develop under the guidance of Kavanagh to ensure his connections are repaid in full as they gave $360,000 for him at the 2008 Inglis Easter Yearling sale.

Offered by Turangga Farm, Undeniably has now won three of his eight starts and has earnings of more than $100,000. He is out of Suggestive (by Al Hareb) and that makes him a half-brother to the Group I Cantala Stakes winner, Sky Cuddle, who raced in Turangga Farm’s colours.
