Lees bouyant about Devil In A Dress

TVN - Neale Donnelley - Monday, 14 January 2013

Like the trainers of most two-year-olds who show promise, Kris Lees is hoping his Strada filly Devil In A Dress might be a Golden Slipper horse.

Lees has entered Devil In A Dress for the $250,000 Inglis Classic over 1200-metres at Rosehill on Saturday.

Lees told the racingnetwork today the filly was ready to go back to the races.

“It’s probably a bit ambitious thinking she’s a Golden Slipper horse but this is a really nice race for her on Saturday,” Lees said.

“Even when she won she did a few things wrong, so we trialled her the other day in blinkers and she pleased us, so she’ll go to the races on Saturday,” Lees said.

Interestingly, Devil In A Dress has never been beaten in either a trial or at the races. She has trialled twice for two wins at Newcastle and Wyong, and her only race start resulted in a two and a half length win at Scone on December 29.

The filly was bred and is now raced by Nick Moraitis (of Might And Power fame) and she went through the sale ring in the Inglis Classic sale but was passed in.

Lees said he was always hopeful of making the Golden Slipper with his two-year-olds, but felt that might be an unrealistic option for Devil In A Dress.
