Light Fingers Confirmed For Kangarilla Joy

Breeding and Racing - Wednesday, 27th January 2016

Co-trainer Peter Snowden confirmed that next month's Gr2 Light Fingers Stakes is the primary autumn target for Kangarilla Joy (Lonhro-Midnight Joy, by Zeditave) following the well bred filly's easy win in the TAB Rewards Handicap (1100m) at Randwick yesterday.

Her victory took her record to 3 wins from 4 starts for $103,525 in prize money.

"She deserves another crack at stakes grade, she took on the older mares today," Snowden told racenet.

"She's a lovely type with a nice pedigree so some black type would certainly go a long way."

He added: "The Light Fingers is the ultimate goal for her, to be able to win a Group Two race would add a lot of residual value to her."

Purchased by Kentucky bloodstock agent John Moynihan on behalf of Barbara Banke's Stonestreet Stables for $840,000 at the 2014 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Turangga Farm, Kangarilla Joy is the most expensive daughter of champion racehorse and stallion Lonhro to ever be sold at auction.

From the Zeditave mare Midnight Joy, Kangarilla Joy is a granddaughter of Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Midnight Fever (LuskinStar).

This is also the family of Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond placegetter Startling Lass (herself a full sister to Midnight Fever), Gr1-winner Rock Classic, Caulfield Stakes, Turnbull Stakes and Brisbane Cup winner Igloo, as well as Gr3-placed stallion Dane Fever.
