Lonhro Colt Too Good at Sale

The Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes trained Dissolved will be set for bigger targets next autumn after taking out today's $100,000 GPG Inglis Trophy Race (1400m) at Sale.

The son of Lonhro becomes the latest horse to prosper from the inaugural $2.5million Inglis Race Series, with today's race restricted to graduates of 2008 Inglis yearling sales.

DISSOLVED ($300,000 2008 Easter, 3c Lonhro-Yarralumla) was offered for sale by Segenhoe Stud and secured by John Hawkes.

He is from one of Australian racing's most outstanding families, with Yarralumla (Grand Lodge) being a half-sister to seven times Group 1 winner and $5million earner Grand Armee, with other G1 winning relations including Dealer Principal, Drum and Anamato.

Dissolved is now the winner of two races from three starts since making his debut last month. He is likely to be spelled now, with the Hawkes camp looking ahead to next autumn with the promising youngster.

Today's Sale Cup meeting also saw Inglis auction an Elvstroem filly, who was sold to a local syndicate of owners for $32,000.

"The Sale Turf Club hosted an excellent meeting today and Dissolved certainly looks a horse capable of measuring up to some nice races next year," Inglis Director Peter Heagney said.

"The Elvstroem filly selling for $32,000 was a good result for the Club and the interest it created suggests it is a concept that can be built upon."

Later, last year's G1 Hong Kong International Sprint winner INSPIRATION ($420,000 2005 Easter, Flying Spur-La Bamba) added to his outstanding record when taking the HK G3 Premier Bowl at Sha Tin.

Inspiration was prepared for sale by Arrowfield Stud and this was his ninth career win, with his earnings already well beyond the equivalent of $A2million.

Attention now turns to the 2009 Inglis Australian Racehorse Sale which will be held at Oaklands on Sunday November 15.
