Super VOBIS and Chatswood Stud have given their support to the Inglis Race Series, with the three-year-old race set down for Sunday August 23 at Seymour set to be one of the richest restricted events in country Victoria.
Chatswood have come on board as a sponsor for the race, which will now be known as the Chatswood Vase Inglis Bonus Series 3YO, to be run over 1300m for three-year-old’s rated 0-72.
The race carries an initial prizemoney purse of $50,000, but eligible Inglis graduates will also be competing for the $50,000 Bonus as part of the $2.5million Race Series.
Furthermore, Super VOBIS has taken the decision to allocate a metropolitan bonus of $30,000, meaning the race will carry overall prizemoney of $130,000.
“That is outstanding prizemoney for a non-stakes event and we are very grateful for the support of both Chatswood and Super VOBIS in getting behind this race,” Melbourne Bloodstock Director Peter Heagney said.
“That money should be a great incentive for owners and trainers with promising three-year-olds to target the race, as it is perfectly timed early in the spring and it might prove to be a nice stepping stone to a stakes race later on.”
Moonee Valley will host the next event in the Inglis Race Series, with a $100,000 Bonus up for grabs in the two-year-old event on July 11.
In New South Wales, Grafton will host a $50,000 Bonus race on Cup Day, July 16.
The 2008 graduates will get their first chance to secure a 3YO Bonus on August 1, with a $100,000 purse added to the 3YO Quality event that day at Rosehill.
A $2.5million Race Series is also on offer for graduates of this year’s sales.
Buyers of 2009 Inglis yearlings have until July 31 to pay up for the Series, with a $2200 cost for Easter, Melbourne Premier and Sydney Classic graduates, and $1100 for Scone and Melbourne Autumn graduates.
