Makybe Diva has third foal

TRIPLE Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva has given birth to her third foal, a filly by Australia's reigning champion stallion Encosta De Lago.

Makybe Diva's filly foal was born in the early hours of Friday morning at Segenhoe Stud in the Hunter Valley.

There was cause for dual celebration for owner Tony Santic because later that morning, Makybe Diva's dam, Tugela, also gave birth to a filly foal by Redoute's Choice.

A spokeswoman for Santic confirmed Makybe Diva would now be served by More Than Ready, sire of the last two Golden Slipper winners Sebring and Phelan Ready. Tugela is due to go to Exceed And Excel.

At the Inglis Easter Yearlings Sales this year, Makybe Diva's first foal, a colt by Galileo (pictured), sold for $1.5million, while Tugela's colt by Redoute's Choice sold for $1.2million.
