March Thoroughbred Sale - Day 2

23rd Mar 2006

Healthy competition from buyers at the 2006 William Inglis March Thoroughbred Sale at Oaklands today helped achieve an excellent clearance rate of 92% and a new record aggregate of $2,004,100 for a total of 330 lots sold.

The mare category provided the sale with its top lot of $90,0000 for the mare New Groove, offered on account of Three Bridges Thoroughbreds.

The filly and mare racehorse category proved very popular with bidders resulting in lot 234 Croisette by Canny Lad out of Cheval Place going under the hammer to Belmont Bloodstock Agency VIC for $55,000. Her half sister lot 239, Fine Arts by Quest for Fame achieved $26,000. Another dual purpose offering lot 289, Run The Wind achieved $31,000.

“An all round extremely pleasing result” said Inglis Director, Peter Heagney. “The horses were very well presented and the buyers provided enthusiastic bidding which created a positive atmosphere in the ring in all categories”

“Additionally the small offering of yearlings at this sale met with strong bidding which augers well for our forthcoming Autumn Yearling Sale on April 3 & 4 where 451 lots will go under the hammer” said Heagney.
