MELBOURNE BREEZE-UP SALE A PROVEN SOURCE OF STAKES HORSES

10th Dec 2007

The stunning Group 1 success of Sacred Kingdom, Weekend Hussler and Arapaho Miss are further proof, as if any was needed, that Melbourne is a constant source of high-class racehorses.

Last weekend’s racing proved a timely reminder of how proven a source of winners Breeze-Up sales can be. The Gerald Ryan trainer Ready To Lift made it three wins in a row when scoring at Rosehill and the daughter of More Than Ready (USA) is yet another graduate of the Inglis Ready-To-Run Sale concept. The 2007 sale is taking place this Friday with breeze-ups scheduled for Thursday at Oaklands Junction and buyers can bid with confidence knowing that all horses in the sale are from an EI free zone.

As current as she is, Ready To Lift and Tuesday’s Kilmore winner De Mars are just the latest in a stream of winners from the sale. This is no idle boast, the figures speak for themselves.

In recent years graduates have won or placed in over 150 stakes races, 31 of them at Group 1 level, notably Lazer Sharp, More Than Lucky, Demerger, Taikun, Forum Floozie, Patpong and Planet Ruler ($3mill in Hong Kong).

A study of results from the sale comes to a simple conclusion. Horses sold at this sale win races.

Excluding last year, over 75% of sale graduates have won or been placed from the previous breeze up/ready to run sales conducted by Inglis with 10% of stakes performers to starters.

Running in conjunction with the Breeze-Up sale is the December Mixed Bloodstock sale and there are some nicely bred breeding stock catalogued. For example:

Lot 96 LITOWINDA. 3yo King’s Best (USA) half-sister to two stakeswinners, Si Signor (Gr 3)and Bello Signor

Lot 109 FLIGHT PLUME. Flemington winner, 4yo daughter of Gr 2 placed Flying Spice, a half-sister to Listed winner Chattanooga.

Lot 113 ON PAR. 4yo Carnegie (Ire) half-sister to Queensland Oaks (Gr 1) winner Miss Danehill, the Gr 2 winner Pentastic and Listed winner Point Made

Lot 114 ON THE BOARD. 4yo winning daughter of Queensland Oaks winner Miss Danehill

Lot 119 COMBELLE. 4yo Commands and very closely related to Gr 3 winner El Cambio

As we said earlier, it is very important to remember that all the horses in the sale on Friday are coming out of an EI free state and therefore can be transported immediately to any location in Australia - other than to the purple zone of NSW where horses need to be vaccinated before entry.
